Although he never played professionally Elton John’s love for football is well known.

Gay people ‘not interested in sport’ claims former rugby playerThis is an article from 2014 but let's discuss this topic without feeling uncomfortable or insinuating homophobia or trying to be politically correct. What do you mean by "trying to be politically correct?" It's not a challenge but a serious inquiry. The term is tossed about with such careless abandon as an all-purpose pejorative that it's pretty much lost any specific meaning. I'd be interested to know what you mean by it in this context.

What do you mean by "trying to be politically correct?" It's not a challenge but a serious inquiry. The term is tossed about with such careless abandon as an all-purpose pejorative that it's pretty much lost any specific meaning. I'd be interested to know what you mean by it in this context. "If you say that someone is politically correct, you mean that they are extremely careful not to offend or upset any group of people in society" I personally do not have much issues if words lose any specific meaning. Given that English is a word used across the whole world and there are so many people across different societies, some words can lose any specific meaning. My personal opinion is that in recent years society has evolved in such a way that one has to be extra careful in saying things such that no group is offended about something. I agree that such problems may have existed in past too although it seems to have increased. My personal take on the subject is that it is incorrect opinion that only a tiny minority of gays are interested in sports. One will have to have solid evidence when making such a claim. But the better question would be "could it it be true that significantly lesser percentage of gay (only males) are interested in sports as compared to straight males". That is my question. I do not know enough gay to form a concrete opinion on that. However, it seems MDB forum or IMDB V2 forum has very few gay males interested in sports. I believe I have known about 11 or 12 gay males on Religion and other boards but they have never appeared on sports board. But again, that all relies on the assumption that just because those posters don't show up on sports means they are not interested in sports or that I know actual sexual orientation of each and every sports board poster. Apart from that 7 or 8 gays that I knew during my university days also didn't seem to be that interested in sports. Again, it could be that they were simply not interested in sports I follow - Cricket, football, formula-1. One poster recently asked me what I mean by significantly. Significant simply means noticeable. sufficiently great or important to be worthy of attention.

When you make a point of asking for comments "without...trying to be politically correct," are you specifically soliciting ones that avoid being "careful not to offend or upset?"

No, I don't think that's correct at all. I had a friend who was on a gay softball league and volleyball league.
There are plenty of gay sports bars.
And then there are lesbians. So, watch out!

I was simply asking people to be frank about the topic. Speak their mind. It's an interesting topic in my view but one might avoid answering thinking that they might end up generalising any group. It is often commonly believed that gay people are more artistic than general population. I don't know if there is any truth in that or it is an exaggeration. But it never hurts to know opinions of people on the subjects irrespective of whether opinions are based on facts or not. I have seen some articles on gay people and art but very few on gay people and sports and that's why I initiated this discussion. And it helps if on such topics people are frank.

I have seen some articles on gay people and art but very few on gay people and sports and that's why I initiated this discussion. And it helps if on such topics people are frank. It's been my experience that participants in what are essentially anonymous fora exhibit little hesitation in being as frank as they wish. Indeed, a loosening of inhibitions is the more typical display. If they wish to be offensive, no cautions to the contrary will deter them. Likewise, no encouragement to relax standards of courtesy will bring anything to bear on those whose natural inclinations are toward respectful expression. It's the seemingly contradictory suggestions, "without...insinuating homophobia" and "without...trying to be politically correct" that raised alarms. To paraphrase: on the one hand, don't call anyone a homophobe; on the other, don't try to be careful about not offending gay people. See what I mean? It sounds like, "walk on eggshells here, but not there." My inquiry arose from the inclusion of politically-charged terminology in that context. If your request had been phrased as emboldened above, I wouldn't have questioned it, or any subtle messaging apparent.
And with that, I've spoken my mind. Thanks for your patience.

And with that, I've spoken my mind. Thanks for your patience. Oops. I realise my error. I wanted to write "without feeling uncomfortable about insinuating homophobia". I often miss words, repeat words, write incorrect words or forget the tense I had originally started. It's been a problem since childhood but has become a bit more persistent in the last 2 years. Not that it's a problem with writing in foreign language. I barely passed in Hindi in my matriculation. Scored something like 43/100 when passing score was 40.

Very graciously stated, and, of course, your explanation puts a whole new light on it and abates my concern. From my point of view, you needn't worry too much about missed words or forgotten tenses. English is my first and only language (other than some dimly remembered high school Spanish), and I do things like that all the time. Anyone who can become fluent in more than one language has my admiration for that ability and discipline.

I do know lot of gay men love to watch wrestling. You figure it out. I love it when one guy's nose is pressed up against the other guy's perineum. (Or something similar) Oh, lordy. In some ways it's better than porn. Whereas porn is blatant and graphic, wrestling is the last word in homoeroticism. Gee Willikers! I wonder if anything goes through their minds when stuff like this happens. I suppose they need to stay focused on winning, but my goodness, the distractions are innumerable.

But I love to watch classic Greco-Roman wrestling.
You wrestled in high school! That's AWESOME! I wish I had wrestled in school. I might have been good at it. I have strong legs. But my parents wanted me to be on the swim team, which was ridiculous because I absolutely do not have the body type to be a good swimmer. Oh, well. I don't like the goofy WWE, either. It's just too silly for words. But the real stuff can be exhilarating. In the old days, didn't they wrestle naked? Erections had to have been inevitable.

You can google naked wrestling by the way. Lol. I'd rather watch Oliver Reed and Alan Bates wrestle nude in "Women in Love" than pornographic pretext.

Although he never played professionally Elton John’s love for football is well known. An EJ was also "straight" in the eyes of most of the simpleton public. Until he officially came out, that was the image to project to sell it. A friend of mine, informed me her sister told her when she found out that EJ was gay, she said she wasn't going to listen to him anymore. Yeah, there was that last ditch attempt at being straight when he briefly Renate Blauel.

All I can say is there's not a goodlooking bloke in that whole bunch. And I bet that room stank. I would be able to single out some from that bunch. Nothing wrong with ugly cutes. They look showered and clean to me and EJ would have been in gay heaven. I think there are some attractive, appealing faces in that pic. Maybe GB is turned off by the hairstyles or facial hair? I wonder where the pic was taken. Some of the guys are only wearing towels.

One appears to be wearing even less than that.
