Off the top of my head, the big one that comes to mind is Kangaroo Jack. That’s certainly a notorious example.

The Snowman? I don’t think any of us could had guessed how bizarre the editing and pacing was gonna be.

1945 It's the true story of a Marine blinded in WWII and trying to adjust to his new life. It is NOT a Hollywood Musical !

Drive (2011). I went in knowing exactly what I was getting, despite the fact that it was marketed like a Fast & Furious movie.

never seen it but Kangaroo Jack is the last movie I would have expected to be named here Let’s just say that it isn’t actually a zany kid’s film about a mischievous kangaroo that talks and raps.

The Snowman? I don’t think any of us could had guessed how bizarre the editing and pacing was gonna be. I think the trailers did the best they could. The production was a clusterfuck. It is one of the most incompetent movies with this amount of talent involved I have ever seen.

The Life Zone - The film is about 3 girls kidnapped by crazy religious nuts and are forced to give birth after they tried to get an abortion. Why does the poster have scary baby heads busting through a stomach? Also some DVDs have Charles Durning's name on the DVD despite him not being in the film.

The DVD of Slumdog Millionaire had this little blurb on the cover: "The feel-good movie of the year!" No, it wasn't.

Scarecrow (1973) This may be the all-time worst poster ever conceived to advertise a movie. I'm sure no one knew how to market it, anyway, but the people who slapped this piece of garbage together should never have been allowed inside an advertising agency again.

The Cable Guy Funny People The Perks of Being a Wallflower
While not really misleading, they seemed to be marketed towards who they wanted showing up to pay rather than what they were actually selling.

never seen it but Kangaroo Jack is the last movie I would have expected to be named here Wasn’t Kangaroo jack actually originally supposed to be a rated R movie, but the studio needed a kids movie or something so they “tried” to make it a kids movie?

99% of low or medium budget horror, action and science fiction films are films whose marketing makes them seem more accessible than they really are. Ex: Ad Astra, The Witch, It comes at night, Drive, etc ...

The Baader Meinhof Complex film shows the members as vicious, nihilistic punks. The trailer presents them as idealistic youths.

Wolf was marketed as a straightforward werewolf picture. The majority of it is a satire on the predatory nature of corporations.
