Surprise: Get Out. Granted, it didn't need to gross a shit ton in order to make a profit due to its small budget, but I didn't expect it to make 170 million.
Disappointment: Power Rangers. After a 40 million opening, you'd think it would have been able to at least reach the century mark. But it collapsed and its final tally will only be slightly higher than 2:1 over its opening.

Surprise: I'm with you. Get Out...I mean, come on, that was a beast for it's budget.
Disappointment: Right now, I would be inclined to say the Great Wall. I think it expected to do a bit better, given it's budget.

Guardians 2: shocked it's only been rated a 5.5/10 here. That means it will probably fail and possibly even spell the end of the MCU.

Surprise: None so far
Disappointment: Fate of the Furious - it was boring even by FF standards. Tried to be too serious which is a no-no for such type of movies The Great Wall - nothing new, same boring white savior/monster flick Kong Skull Island - zero character development and cliched characters LEGO Batman Movie - lacked a good story like "The LEGO Movie". Seemed just like a bunch of jokes and Batman references strung together
Plain terrible: Beauty and the Beast XXX Return of Xander Cage

The asian market is going to save it's ass, we can't say the same about Ghost in The Shell though.

Surprise:
Guardians of the Galaxy: 773 million isn't bad for a group of obscure comics characters
Disappointment:
Tomorrowland: enjoyable, but it was just the fact they released it at such a packed point in the summer movie season was what lost it so much money, still made more than that unnecessary Poltergiest reboot though.

Surprise: that somehow you get out of bed in the morning and presumably dress yourself Disappointment: that you then post on here about your love of TFA and MCU

"Get Out" had a LONG run, and did surprisingly well with reviews and gross. It became something of a cult phenomenon. As for "Power Rangers," it seems like all the fans showed up on opening weekend, but then hardly anyone else was interested. At this point, Lionsgate can only hope to just make back the money in the Chinese and Japanese markets.
