1990 was an interesting year in which several non-franchise films were top grossers. I really like this film and Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore had some really good chemistry as the pottery scene was just that good. Even in a stereotypical role as a psychic, Whoopi Goldberg shined in the role.

Maltin Movie Guide Review:
Ghost (1990) - 3 out of 4 stars
"Overlong but enjoyable mix of fantasy, thriller, and romance. Swayze is killed, and when he learns (in his ghostly state) that he was the victim of a botched hit, he tries to warn his grieving girlfriend (Moore) that she's in danger too. Storefront medium Whoopi (in an Oscar-winning role) turns out to be the only one who can convey his messages to her. Swayze runs the gamut of expressions from A to B, but the relationships are credible and as a result the fantasy works. Oscar Winner for Best Original Screenplay (Bruce Joel Rubin). Later a Broadway musical."

Saccharine crap but I was entertained (although too long drawn out, as already pointed out).
I particularly liked the presentation of the "drag him to hell" demons. Simple to do but very effective.
Last night I watched a far better ghost story: A Ghost Story (2017) dir: David Lowery. Starring Casey Affleck, though as his character spent two-thirds of the movie covered in a white sheet almost immobile and with no dialog I do not know who it really was inside. Could have been the director's grandpa.
A sad and subtle meditation on time and relationships, though, to be fair, it partly relied on playing with tropes made familiar to us by mainstream pop movies like "Ghost'.

Awesome film. Totally the opposite of the usual Hollywood formula, which makes it completely unpredictable. Not enough "hate" in it for the Beavis and Butthead audiences.
Full of awesome, memorable scenes. Just a perfect film. But, don't expect the haters to enjoy it. And most people on this site are Hollywood formula film lovers. This film was too risk taking for them.
10/10.
