"And it will contain the finest sheets in the finest rooms, in the finest house in Oxford -- they promise."
-- T.E. Lawrence (well, almost)

"Well, sir. Going 'ome."
A truly great ending to a magnificent film. Lawrence is leaving the Middle East, his hopes for the Arab people dashed. The bedouin soldiers are leaving Damascus, British troops are coming in. Lawrence stares at a motorcyclist.

And the sandbox ("I could never get Davey out of it", his mum would say) is still in the backyard.

about 5 years after the film there was a spate of biographies of Lawrence. Many of them seemed to agree that the Seven Pillars Of Wisdom was full of outright lies about Lawrence’s exploits. And did not appreciate the way the Hijaz Arabs viewed his contributions. Ive always thought the film, while celebrating Lawrence, did a fair job of presenting his oddities and the question of his veracity.

You have a 300 acre lawn, Tele?
Mowing it must really cut into your food preparation time!
