BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC has the unpredictable turns and the sense of adventure that made its predecessors entertaining, but it's not that funny and the ending is too abrupt. Of all the franchises, why give this one a legacy sequel? The protagonists were good-natured dreamers, as well as airheads who said "dude" in every sentence. Of course that schtick isn't going to work decades later. Nothing they say in this movie sounds natural because the dialogue designed for teenagers is coming out of the mouths of men in their late 50s. I can't really blame Alex Winter. He struggles when trying to recreate that kind of youthful energy, but that would happen to any other actor his age. What Keanu Reeves does on the other hand is truly bad. It comes off as if someone else were making fun of his performance in the first two installments. Luckily, this writing issue doesn't happen with the title characters' daughters (Thea and Billie). They have the exact same personalities, but they're in their 20s. Nothing Samara Weaving says or does is convincing, while Brigette Lundy-Paine is the complete opposite. She's the cast's MVP!

while Brigette Lundy-Paine is the [...] cast's MVP! I liked it quite a bit more than that, but agree completely about Brigette Lundy-Paine. She is so uncannily like Keanu Reeves, it's scary!
