Arguably their most famous album, and their first without frontman Bon Scott. Anyone think all the songs sound the same?

I think it's great top to bottom.

It's pretty much accepted now that the songs were written largely already before Bon died which is pretty obvious by the feel of it. The Bon "template" of great barroom music could be described as following a certain formula but so can most things. They ditched the Bon sound for the more heavy metal work thereafter and I completely lost interest. I saw the last Bon gig in London and the first Johnson one (back in black tour) and have to say that Bon dying took all the un out of them. Never bothered seeing them again.

No, but it's far from being their best album. The Bon Scott albums are much better.
That said, "Hells Bells" is still a tremendous opener and the closest they ever came to heavy metal.

A wonderful album that was unfortunately played to death on classic rock radio in the years after its release.

A wonderful album that was unfortunately played to death on classic rock radio in the years after its release. You'd lose count on how many times the song "Back in Black" has been featured in movie trailers.
