Nancy Lynn Kirkpatrick (16) was last seen on April 21, 1976. She was walking home from a neighbor’s house in Columbia Falls, Montana. The day Nancy disappeared, she had just been returned to her family after running away. Nancy lived with her grandmother since her parents were divorced. She was a chronic runaway, and had been found and returned to her loved ones from places as far as Seattle and Los Angeles. She had an interest in hippie counterculture. There was an unconfirmed sighting of Nancy in Anchorage, Alaska in 1983, by one of her teachers. Nancy has distinctive burn scars on both her shoulders and a scar on her upper right arm. Because Nancy’s case is similar to the disappearance of Robyn Pettinato, who disappeared a year earlier and ten miles away in Whitefish, it is theorized that there is a connection between the cases. This connection has never been proven. If you have any information regarding Nancy’s whereabouts, please contact the Whitefish Police Department at (406) 863-2320 or the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office at (406) 758-5610.
