Just thinking about the "rules" of the Kandarian Demon in terms of human possession... throughout the three original movies and the TV series.
1- Direct possession. The Kandarian Demon/The Evil Dead attacks its victim and penetrate into his/her body. See Shelly, Ash and most of the Deadites in the TV series.
2- The branches/roots in the woods. Cheryl, Scott.
3- Objects "imbued" with the Kandarian Demon essence. Generally speaking, objects inside the Knowby Cabin, and there must be invasive wounding with them.
The pencil (Linda). The wall (Ed Getley). The cymbal (Candace Barr). The nail (Ash in Season 2).
Deadite blood, finger nails and eyebulbs don't bring the Kandarian Demon essence inside the victims. Only a bite (see Linda's head and Ash's possessed hand).
