Liviy Shchipachyov was 14 when he starred in his first feature film, Timur i yego komanda , Timur and his Team (1940) Directed by Aleksandr Razumnyj . A very popular & historically significant classic Soviet film. Adapted from Arkady Gaida the excellent film tells of a gang of village kids lead by Timur (Liviy Shchipachyov) who sneak around secretly carrying out charitable acts in their community. Protecting families whose fathers and husbands are war absent, looking out for the elderly. With a tremendously inspiring lead role from the boy star, the film had a huge impact upon the young Soviet audiences, and was followed by Timur's Oath (1942). Involving thousands of children, the Timurite movement sprang forth, an altruistic youth volunteering movement. Righteous youth organizations became a massive phenomenon all over the country. Despite great talent & huge success with a taste of stardom young Liviy Shchipachyov did not continue acting into adult roles... ?

Two of my favorites:
George "Foghorn" Winslow made a handful of movies for 20th Century-Fox in the 1950s. He starred alongside such big stars as Cary Grant, Marilyn Monroe, and Clifton Webb, and was known as a scene-stealer because of his serious demeanor and especially his deep voice. By the time he was twelve years old, he was aging out of his distinctive voice and the movie roles dried up. As an adult, he became a successful photographer, served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, and worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He took in feral cats and had them spayed and neutered, and was very close to them. He died in 2015 at his home; he was survived by his 25 pet cats.
Edna May Wonacott was on a shopping trip with her cousins and was waiting with them at a bus stop in Santa Rosa, California when she noticed two men staring at her. Alarmed, one of the older cousins tried to move her away from the two guys as they approached. They managed to introduce themselves as director Alfred Hitchcock and producer Jack Skirball; they had been scouting locations in town for their next film, Shadow of a Doubt, and they wanted to cast the little girl in their film. Miss Wonacott had no acting experience, and she credits Hitchcock for her fine performance in the film. (Maybe she reminded him of his daughter, who would have been slightly too old for the role). As Ann Newton, she gives a great supporting role as the little girl who is wiser than any of the adults in the film, and who has better instincts about Uncle Charlie than anyone else, but is also aware that no one will take a little girl seriously. Of all the characters in the film, the three leading roles, IMO, are Young Charlie, Uncle Charlie, and Ann. Not only is she more on the ball than anyone else, there's a very brief shot of her embracing her sister after she "accidentally" passes out from carbon monoxide poisoning that is very affecting; I think Hitchcock's aim in including that little shot is to show her fears about Uncle Charlie as well as her deep humanity--the mother and father seem more surprised than upset about what's happened, while Ann is decent enough to be distraught by it. Wonacott made a few more brief appearances in films before "retiring'; she married and had three children and still gets fan mail.

Great points about Wonnacott. I always think that she is the only person who is not enchanted by UncleCharlie so her view of him is not clouded by who she imagines he is. Nevertheless she is too young to interpret correctly all that she senses. She just knows something is off. It’s a startling performance.
Hitchcock’s girls with glasses pop up in a lot of his films ,

Kristy McNichol was quite big as a youth and getting adult roles, but she walked away from the business.

Kristi Macnichol was a delightful young teen star, natural and heartfelt. I believe she developed mental health issues as an adult and could not tolerate the stress of an acting career. There are a few fine actors who had this problem, most notably Patty Duke. With medication she was able to work.

Tommy Kirk was a top Disney star and made the transition into adult roles, but once his homosexuality was known, Disney dropped him and he struggled in low budget films until that dried up. I read he had a rug business in Kentucky, I believe.

She had good if small role as the mother of mob girlfriend Adrianna LaCerva on the Sopranos. Her character was always spitting venom at the wise guys.

I read he went back into acting recently for something.
How about the kid in the Omen? I haven't seen it but I read he had a cameo in the remake.
Pamelyn Ferdin was everywhere in the 60s, early 70s, then seemed to stop acting after the early 80s except for some recent voiceovers.
Another was Chloe Franks--a cute English child actress but when she got older she was unrecognizable and then developed crippling arthritis and now does charity work for it.
I was going to say Kim Richards but see she has been somewhat active right up to the present. Kyle Richards I only know from Halloween but I guess she is coming back for the next sequel, good grief.
The Omen child; Harvey Stephens. It seems that after The Omen all he did was a 1980 TV movie, and had a cameo appearance in the 2006 remake of The Omen as a tabloid reporter. He also appears at horror conventions. According to Wikipedia, he was involved in a road rage incident in 2017 and got a suspended sentence. Yeah, Pamelyn Ferdin was very active back in the day. Interesting that she was in one of the all-time sleazy exploitation horror flicks: The Toolbox Murders (1978).

The audition for the Omen child was apparently that Richard Donner told him to kick him as hard as he could in the shin and the kid got all excited and really went at it and had to be held back to stop. That's when they knew they had found the right devil child.
Pamelyn Ferdin was almost Regan in the Exorcist--I think they even did a makeup test. She might have been passed over because she had already done an occult movie or two.

That's right, Ferdin auditioned for The Exorcist, I forgot about that. I'm sure she would have been a fine Regan.

I liked Pamela in Charlotte's Web. Didn't she play a pregnant teen on Baretta? I think her stepdad was molesting her.
