It's been several years since we've had Albertson's in northern California. Lucky Stores was a popular chain here, founded in the 1930's (I think). Albertson's bought Lucky's, in the 90's, and they all became Albertson's. Then "somebody else," bought "somebody else," and and all of our Albertson's reverted back to being Lucky Markets.
A friend of mine, still refers to it as "whatever it's called, this week."
I don't recall noticing any real difference in inventory, pricing or service, either time the change was made.

are you a fan of this grocery store? I liked it a lot but it left town. Guess it left all of Norcal like divtal said. They would do double coupons. I liked that! No other store in the area does that. I lived in Redlands and loved triple coupon day! They did that when we lived in Plano Texas too

That's interesting. I love lamb. But, I won't buy lamb from Safeway. The packaging says that it's imported from Australia ... and Australian, New Zealand and Scottish lamb is said to be the best in the world. But, Safeway's lamb seems gristly. It finally occurred to me that they might be importing the lamb from Australia ... for their reputation ... but saving money by purchasing the lowest grade of their supply. Lucky's lamb is fine.
Also, there are some markets, from all major chains, that have lowered their lighting. That could be a nod to the "bottom line," or to the environment. Maybe both. About 10 years ago, at a check-out line in Safeway, someone hollered "CAN YOU TURN THE LIGHTS ON, PLEASE?" It got both laughs, and applause.

divtal I grew up in southern california. All of our lucky's were turned into albertsons. I didn't like the change, even though we primarily shopped at Stater Bros. And to answer the question - yes and no. I didn't like them before the safeway merge. but after, I felt like I was shopping at safeway, and i like safeway. now it doesn't really matter. I no longer have one close to me. I went into the Acme (Albertsons on the northern east coast) near Geno's Steaks and Pat's steaks in Philly. It just felt like I was shopping at Vons (Safeway in Southern California)

It's Randall's here, and I can use my Safeway card, but no. Everything is cheaper at HEB. Randall's has better meat, though. And I also early vote there.

When I realized vons and safeway were the same store in 2004, I made sure I applied for 2 extra safeway cards in washington state just to use them at vons. My family drank a lot of soda but the sales were always limited to one per card

Lol we tried that. using the same card is how they knew we had already done the sale So We just had 2 safeway cards, a vons card, then we used my sister's safeway phone number for a 4th sale. She drank the costco generic Simply sodas over the brand names. she liked it better, so we didn't have to worry about her buying soda at safeway We either went through 2 lines, went 2 different days, went to 2 different locations, or said we had to pay in 2 transactions

I sometimes would make my husband have a transaction separately. He hated that. Lol I lived in the small towns of 29 palms and Yucca Valley. my late mother worked for the military health care company Tri-Care. she worked on the 29 palms base but a year after we moved there, the realtors of our house told us to buy it or leave because they were selling it. So we moved over to Yucca Valley, which is just 20 miles down Ca-62 AKA 29 palms highway. But those were small towns with hardly anything. We constantly had to go down to Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Desert Hot Springs (Coachella valley Area) to go to any good stores Or We'd do it in apple valley or victorville when we went out there. my father was in a nursing home in victorville (I lived there from 1990-2003) and we often had to go back out there. So we'd do one sale at the Yucca Valley Vons, then do the other either in victorville or at one of the ones in the Coachella valley Area

When I lived in Albuquerque, NM., I did most of my grocery shopping at Albertson's and Trader Joe's, they were across the street from each other and I noticed many shoppers going to both stores. Publix reminds me a little of Albertson's.

Our laptop died on July 18th, my husband is working from home and was using our old PC, the company he works for had their IT department check it out and it was completely dead, we lost everything but we really didn't have anything important on it. They provided him with a company owned tower model but we couldn't use it for personal stuff even though he had been using our personal pc since March for work. When it died, the virus was spiking here in the Mobile area so we waited until things leveled off and went to Best Buy, they loaded it for us and we picked it up yesterday but they could not load Microsoft because the Microsoft web was down so WKD will call Microsoft on Saturday to get that done. We had an HP but Best Buy talked us into a Lenovo (IBM) and so far we like it. I've been resetting passwords etc. but there are 2 boards I don't remember how to access.

No - just red cherries, last week Publix had blackberries for 99 cents a carton so we feasted on those.
