Yes. Friday is fish night at many restaurants in the U.S. The picture you posted is EXACTLY what an order of fried cod looks like in the U.S., sides and all. PLUS cole slaw and sometimes you can get 1/2 & 1/2 French fries & potato salad.
Boston is famous for their Cod Fish Cakes and Boston Baked Beans

Boston is famous for their Cod Fish Cakes and Boston Baked Beans I didn't mean to imply that the same sides always come with it, but everywhere I have ordered fried cod it has looked like the picture. I decided not to nitpick with the coleslaw.

I just added the SLAW to avoid "YOU AMERICANS NEVER EAT VEGETABLES " It's not what someone might ordinarily think of when they see a bag of "coleslaw mix", but it's really just shredded red/green cabbage and carrots - which makes a great addition to a green salad, a stir fry, or egg rolls.

moviemouth I know ... I just added the SLAW to avoid "YOU AMERICANS NEVER EAT VEGETABLES " Too cute that you think that a few stringed vegetables loaded in oily coleslaw dressing is a serve of healthy vegetables.

Odd ...YOU complain bitterly about posters telling you what you think and yet here you are doing exactly that ! Again ! You have ZERO idea of the eating habits of anyone but yourself and those under your personal control !
Full circle, goz The first time I noticed you on the board you were bitching when you entered a thread whose subject was "if you eat burgers you did not make at home.... what burgers do you like ? " and you went into a tirade about American lack of interest in vegetables.
Too bad ..if the slaw you are used to is "stringy with an oily dressing" I could have told you how to make a great cole slaw to replace the crap they apparently serve in Australia ... Your loss !

Well that's about the most generic name I've ever seen. I did buy five cans of tuna yesterday - including two cans of solid white on sale for a buck apiece (limit two). ================= About once/year, when someone on the crew at the paper mill where I worked caught a sturgeon (HUGE fish) on the Columbia River, we'd have a fish fry on swing or graveyard shift. It's an exceptional tasting whitefish, similar to the (overfished) Chilean Sea Bass. Unfortunately, it's not available commercially - and I probably couldn't afford it if it were. I had Chilean Sea Bass once - caught a half-off sale, so I bought a four-ounce piece. At the time, it was selling for around $50/pound. ================= There's an Asian market not far from me which has a large selection of fresh-caught fish I should check out. And they have a lot of live seafood as well - Maine lobsters for $10/pound.
