Omg, I have such a lot of tomatoes from my garden. Soups, sauces and salsa loom in my near future. Maybe even dried tomatoes.
Itβs such a shame that we get a 2 month frenzy, and 10 months of no fresh tomatoes.

I usually buy some standard tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and plum tomatoes in my weekly shop, though I only buy vine tomatoes if they're reduced in price. I see tomatoes everywhere.

I use an immersion blender to make it smooth and I freeze it for the winter.

The volunteers have finally caught up with the boughten plants.. cherry tomatoes and Big Girl. All short season ... but this year no worry about frost before ripening as used to happen !
No slugs for a change too.

Its a real treat when a friend has plenty of home grown tomatoes to give away. Looks like I will have to get a tomato patch happening.

I tried to get my husband to buy a small green house. He said the tomatoes wouldnt be good like the summer ones. They'll be 'hot house' tomatoes.

Delicious I'm still trying to get the lemon juice/vinegar balance right to make the tomato sauce more versatile than just for shakshuka. Tomatoes, salt, cumin and chilli are OK for poaching eggs in but I want something I can use for other dishes too when I make a batch to bottle. In my climate I reckon I can get at least 6 months production for tomatoes. I can occasionally harvest cherry tomatoes when they grow wild in compost heaps and mulch piles. An unbelievably warm winter this year. I don't think it got any colder than 10C (50F) outside the house all winter. No winter PJs, no huddling in front of the fire wrapped in a blanket.

We were so hot this summer. It was bad. And it is suppose to set high temperature records this weekend. 106! Your winter is more mild than mine. Your growing season is a lot longer than mine. I started harvesting tomatoes in june and they are just about done. Good luck getting the balance!
