Catman's uncle has set up a rattlesnake preserve on his land in eastern Iowa. Do his neighbors love him!? Absolutely!

I don't think so. They are feral mongoose. If you want to have mongoose guard your house then you need to befriend it when it is a kid. That said Mongoose and honey badgers punch above their weights. Both can get better of snakes like king cobra and black mamba. Aj, I canβt imagine India being much different to Oz. Both countries swarm with venomous\toxic creatures. When I was staying with my sister in South Australia I found a redback spider in the rabbit hutch. Eek!

When I was staying with my sister in South Australia I found a redback spider in the rabbit hutch. Eek! I've lived in Oz for 30yrs and have encountered a Redback about 3 times only and minding their own business in the corner. I think they are related to the US Black Widow. Hardly worth worrying about.
Spiders don't really bother me and living in Oz has taught me to get over some of my fears of creepy crawlies and have more courage in the wilderness. I have see more Huntsman spiders roaming around inside my living space and they are large. I find they like to live behind the picture frames. Keep the flies away.
In NZ, there are NO snakes and the only venomous spider is the Katipo, similar to the Redback.
Did you take a photo of it Stamm? I was too concerned about the bunny to think about taking a picture. My Australian friends had informed me of the redback and funnel webs so I had a slight panic. I was bitten by something over there which led to a swollen hand and I still have a bit of scarring from the encounter.

Interestingly, the last snake I saw was when I lived in Australia. Venomous creatures are very fascinating and the whole world of underground snakes/spiders seem very mysterious. Good thing is that Australia is being able to preserve most of its flora and fauna.
