I am currently staying with my parents and a week back we saw a venomous snake in the garden of my parent's house. Although I am a snake lover (and especially a fan of reticulated python), meeting a venomous snake face to face (which was about 7 feet long) still gave me shivers for a moment. The boundary wall of the house is about 4 metres and yet the snake came from the other side.

My eyes burn and I cough-- even in the house! That said AJ, I would rather be here than near a poisonous snake! Did you have to call a snake wrangler? Be safe

Catwoman's aunt lived in Gatlinburg back in the 60s, and whenever people encountered a venomous snake, they called the TV repairman.

Be safe We had to call people who knew how to deal with snake. I for one have no prior experience so went inside the house. lol. There are a lot of mongoose which roam around these areas so snakes are very rare. Last one to invade my parents house was like 10-12 years ago. Non-pet Mongoose usually are a asset to have against snakes. I hope things improve soon for you and your people, Enigma. Really worrisome to know about the fire.

Yes, we have many non-pet mongoose roaming around this areas and that's why we don't get frequent snake intrusions even though my parents house is just 100 m away from a river.

Garden lizard and wall lizard are common here. We are used to wall lizards inside our house. The only poisonous creatures here worth worrying about are black widow spiders. Not poisonous. Venomous.

Is there any way you can lure one into your yard to go after the snake?

Is there any way you can lure one into your yard to go after the snake? I don't think so. They are feral mongoose. If you want to have mongoose guard your house then you need to befriend it when it is a kid. That said Mongoose and honey badgers punch above their weights. Both can get better of snakes like king cobra and black mamba.
