My granddaughter was supposed to start Head Start this year. The schools in my area have gone virtual, but I guess she can still go two days a week and the other 3 are online. I'm going to be working with her on ABCs and 123s. I know it's just preschool, but I want to make sure she has a good foundation and I worry about her falling behind. I got her this for us to play, and also the numbers version. And I figure we can do things like go to the zoo and count the animals and and sound out the letters their names start with.

Thankfully I don’t have to worry about that now. Before the shutdowns the only people who homeschooled appeared to be those who thought they could do a better job than the schools but now most parentshave been thrown into this situation.

My daughter started kindergarten this month. I decided to send her to in-person school because I feel the rewards outweigh the risks, and because I don’t think spending hours at the computer doing virtual “learning” is as beneficial to her as being in a real classroom with a teacher and other kids.
That, and she’s a social girl. She missed her friends during the long summer and even started to ask when she could go back to school! Of course, every family should have the freedom to choose what’s best for their children given their circumstances and I admire people who have the time and dedication to homeschooling.

Preschool and kindergarten levels sound fun to teach at home. I would feel less comfortable homeschooling kids in high school kids because of the academic work being more challenging. It would just depend on the subject.
If I was in high school right now I would prefer to take classes online because of the social distancing being placed at schools. The whole point of going to school is to be social and you really can’t right now. Every kid has to be 6 feet apart and can only have 1 kid per table at lunch time. It’s a bit depressing.

Yeah, my daughter and I were on the fence about sending my granddaughter to in-person preschool, but it's just so important at this age. The virus has been under control in my area for the most part, so we're going to do it.

I think high school is different and on-line us a good option. I'd have done online in a second if it was available to me at that age.
