I've heard this referenced in a few old movies, and a Popeye cartoon from 1935. Does it still exist?
It sounds delicious. I wonder why it fell out of popularity.

This was a generic in 2017 at Giant, a grocery store in my area. It was really good

I loves me those egg creams. I can make a decent soda fountain substitute at home, using La Croix unflavored sparkling water--it has a kick very similar to the carbonated-at-the-source fountain stuff. I recall a chocolate soda that existed back in the Sixties, when I was a tyke, but I don't remember the name of it.

Yes if I remember correctly chocolate soda was more like yoohoo than a Hersheys chocolate bar. Kind of a watered down chocolate.

Old Dutch I think was it, though I do recall Brownie as well. There was a drink put out by Pepsi back then called Devil Shake (I remember that one, too), but it wasn't carbonated, more like Yoo-Hoo. Thanks for the memory jog!

Yoohoo is still around, but I've never had it before or any chocolate soda for that matter.

I thought Yoohoo made a soda version at one time, but it sounds like their "soft drink" was just the same YooHoo.

I first heard of chocolate soda years and years ago and I've wanted some authentic version of it ever since. Sounds so interesting!

Back in the 90's, Jewel had a generic chocolate soda in Chicago, it tasted OK. I think Canfield's as well. I tried Yahoo once.

I love chocolate, but the idea of chocolate soda and chocolate milk both make me nauseous.
