Recall eating an entire 16 inch sausage pizza with a pretty thick crust. My friend couldn't polish his off.
Had a guy scream at me, "You don't eat that! That's a garnish." It was parsley.
Campus food you could go back for more and more food. My friend was flabbergasted when I had 7 bacon/lettuce sandwiches, as he thought Jews didn't eat pork.

Right across the street from the dorm I lived in (for the first quarter) was a sub sandwich shop that made this amazing sandwich I had never heard of before - a cheesesteak.

Great thread nj! Bringing back good memories!
I remember ramin becoming a staple.
Like hat I was introduced to a new food! My apartment building was bordered to the north by a strip mall that actually was on Telegraph avenue NJ!
In that was a bagel shop.
Such a new exciting exotic food for me!
Now bagels are a regular staple for me

Like hat I was introduced to a new food! Another new food concept introduced to Bozeman, Montana while I was there (1978-85) was the U-bake pizza - long before Papa Aldo's/Murphy's. It was called Incredible Edible, and their biggest pie ("The Incredible") was this HUGE monster with everything.

I never went to college. But I did cook in a restaurant in Ames Iowa home of ISU. Work with college students. We had some great pizza and beer parties for sure.

There was an A & W, very close to "Sorority Row." They had wonderful Submarine sandwiches, which were enormous. Several of us could contribute $1.00, each ... that included a fair tip, then ... and feast on a huge portion.
The "nibble of choice," while pulling an all-nighter, before a mid-term or final, was pretzels and raisins. That was washed down with strong coffee, of course.

College was a looooong time ago so many memories are clouded, but one came to mind via this post.It was summer '67 and I was out on my own,2 rooms and share a bath,a lot of drunken stuff. One very early morning, coming in from the night prior my roomate and I went down to the ACME mkt a few blocks away to see what we could steal and lo and behold we got 8 boxes of what we discovered to be 8 dozen peach pies.We ate so much peach pie, including some we had frozen I didn't eat peach pie for many years. Some other treats were hot dog stew, shoplifted hot dogs cooked up with god knows what else.Being young and always hungry ( we didn't have money for food but we always had some for weed, which was why we didn't have food money) so even the most noxious sounding now items were then quite edible.
