One of the best documentaries I've ever watched and it's on YouTube. It's actually Russian-produced, but dubbed into English. StarMediaEn PlaylistThe Romanovs are a favorite topic of mine, and, besides Egypt (you get to know Zahi Hawass and Bob Brier very well!) and Richard III/Wars of the Roses, one of the subjects I've watched the most documentaries concerning. There's also an amazing documentary on The Hundred Years' War worth finding. WWI and the Russian Revolution in Colour are also standouts. The documentary concerning the 2007 discovery of Anastasia and Alexei's burnt, fragmented remains is one of the saddest documentaries I've ever watched. It's also on YouTube. I was actually turned onto this particular documentary through a fanvid. That's how cinematic the reenactments in this documentary are. It covers the tumultuous history of Imperial Russia from 1613 to 1918, and often covers little-known figures and events that anglophone documentaries often omit because they're not famous enough and for the sake of time. It's a long documentary!

Did you read the book by Simon Sebag Montefiore? Great read.
