Only six weeks after getting back to work, the NBC soap has had to press “pause” once again.
The hourglass is going to be resting on its side for a couple of weeks. After a member of Days of Our Lives’ production team tested positive for… well, you know, the cast and crew were notified via email that out of an abundance of caution, the show was being shut down for two weeks, through October 26, reports our sister site Deadline.
The team member who tested positive is said to already be in isolation, and contact tracing has identified the other staffers who will need to spend more alone time than usual for the next 14 days. But that’s just the unfortunate news. There’s real, actual good news, too
Days of Our Lives, which never stopped rolling out new episodes over the course of this trying and chaotic spring and summer, thanks to its well-in-advance taping schedule, will still not have its run of original episodes interrupted. So say what you will about how far ahead of broadcast the show works — we’ve always argued that it makes it hard to course-correct in a timely manner a storyline that isn’t clicking — but it’s certainly kept things hopping on air in Salem throughout this difficult period in history. And have we ever needed our stories to keep us going!

Better to err on the side of caution. Although they've since caught up with the episodes they had banked prior to quarantine. According to a post I shared recently from Jason47, episodes airing between 10/6-10/19 would be a mix of material filmed before the shutdown and after; meaning by the end of this week it's going to be all, or mostly all stuff that was shot within the last six weeks. In fact, another post I shared from Jason47 talked about how they were planning on shooting "inserts", like some type of mini arch to try and make-up for the schedule disparity, since the Olympics were postponed. They wanted to get back on track so their Halloween episode actually lined up with Halloween. I think I'd seen something the other day that they were planning on using Orpheus and Clyde for that mini-arc. It was reported about a week ago, so who knows now if they managed to implement that or not. Still, 6 weeks in and now 2 weeks off; that should give them at least a month's worth of episodes, maybe a little more. I know Corday or someone from the show talked about how they wouldn't be able to shoot at quite the same pace as they had been, so they probably aren't banking more episodes in a production period than they could air.

Not surprised but I hope everyone is ok. It's inevitable that people in close contact will spread the virus even with testing.
I just hope they can fix some problems. Honestly some of the stuff going on right now is maddening. Everyone's treatment of Kristen for one...
