For me it was the original Night of the Living Dead, the movie as a whole didn't scare me but the beginning of the film really "creeped me out" when they were in the cemetery and that tall guy called out "They're coming to get you Barbra" , I find cemeteries creepy anyway but after seeing this film when I was 19, I didn't want to enter a cemetery. The movie as a whole didn't scare you, but it was the scariest movie you've ever seen? I don't understand that. Movies just don't scare me but there will be a scene in a movie that bothers me. I'm just interested in what other people find scary. What really scares me is other humans in real life. Decades ago I upset some friends at a movie theater, the film was the Exorcist and I just started laughing, my companions were Catholic and Greek Orthodox - I don't practice any religion, when the girl started puking pea soup, I was doubled over with laughter, it was one of those times when I just couldn't stop laughing, I'm sure we've all had those moments. I found the movie entertaining but it didn't scare me. As for cemeteries, I find them to be unsafe, I remember when many old ladies at St. Casimir's Lithuanian cemetery in Cicero (?) , Il. were beaten and robbed , I don't know if they caught the guy but I would never enter a cemetery alone, you don't know who is lurking there.

The Haunting (1963) Aliens, Jaws and Blair Witch were all tense, edge of the seat experiences first time I saw them on the big screen "The Haunting"!!! Excellent choice! I love Shirley Jackson. Have you read the book? I haven't yet. I have a massive to read list and it's got bigger since I haven't commued to work for the last 8 months

"The Changeling" is a good, very creepy and unnerving ghost story. It doesn't seem like a whole lot of people have seen it. It feels a touch underrated. It's too bad it never made more of an impact when first released. But at least it's getting a bit of a cult following.

Educational film we watched in elementary school about the dangers of poisonous plants. Kids were eating berries near a lake, then there was a quick cut to their bodies floating face down dead in the water. I bet you never ate unidentified berries you found in the woods tho.

The only movies that get under my skin as an adult are those based on true stories like, The Girl Next Door 2007. Which was inspired by the torture and murder of Syliva Likens. It makes me wonder which of my neighbors might do the same given the chance, or might be doing horrible things for which they haven't been caught. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Sylvia_Likens

Signs. Not too much scares me, but alpha predatorial demons in the shadows, who don't even mind emerging from said shadows, has bold effect on me cinematically.
I still get chills during original War of the Worlds when we get a brief shot of a Martian walking/running outside the house, & then the brief moment of seeing its organic self up close.
Fcuk... even the Martians from Sesame Street can fcuk right off! lols I know it's not a life thing, because those Sesame Martians have irked me since I can first remember... it's not a learned thing, it's a built-in survivalist thing.

Forgot I posted in here before... I forgot "The Texas Chainsaw" massacre. As a young Teen I'd never seen anything like it before. It was like watching a Snuff film or Documentary. Although I like several of the other movies none of them have really lived up to the original... The 2003 version was creepy but far too glossy for my taste. I remember a Friend said the new Kids looked too Preppy and pretty in 2003. (I know Daniel Pearl did the Cinematography again.)

Or have you seen the new movie No One Will Save You? I don't even think it's aliens specifically. Chucky in the first Child's Play remains unsettling, esp with the short pov shots. I guess that unsettling sensation is the kicker.
