In the Fall of last year, we decided to go to Salem, MA in October 2020, so we were going to make arrangements in late December/early January. We just never go around to it. Glad we didn't. www.salem.org/safehalloween/Our daughter was also going to go to Japan for three weeks in April, 2020. She usually makes her reservations in October, but put it off. She's relieved she didn't! Were there any plans you were going to make/made that didn't work out?

Not really. Truth be told, I'm not much of a traveler. I'll do the odd day trip, but that's about it.
The last trip where I had to stay overnight was to see my brother and his family (sister-in-law-, niece, nephew). This was back in August of 2017.
I had taken a week off in August of this year - anticipating that I would go see them for a couple of days.
Plus, I had taken a week off in April of this year. I had intended to go to a couple of hockey games - whether it would be on the road or at home. It was our playoffs, which were cancelled - along with the Memorial Cup tournament.
Honestly, I'm right where I want to be. Everything I need is within a half hour drive from me.

Joker's Wilde We did our one usual vacation in Cape Cod, and it was good. Lot's of outdoor dining, and the beaches weren't crowded. As a matter of fact, the Cape was pretty empty compared to regular Summer months. Kind of enjoyed it in some respects. But other than that, we had to cancel other trips, one which which bothers me because it's going to North Carolina the week of Thanksgiving to spend with family that we see once a year. My sister is there, and I haven't seen her since last early August.

I was going to take a contract ob in Malaysia earlier this year and turned it down. Lost a lot of money but turned out to be a great thing considering everything that happened.
Every year I do a couple road trips. I travel to different baseball parks and go to different concerts in the US. Needless to say none of this happened this year. I was able to get most of my money back but it did kind of mess up my summer plans.

I would so love to go on a cruise right now, but I don't think that is a good idea plus I don't think any cruise lines are even booking any just yet.

Hopefully in another year this will all be in the past. Do anything else?

Cruises got a bad rap the past few years with all those illnesses people got. Personally, even in good times I don't think I'd want to do one. I know people who love them, though. This couple who are friends of our do them all the time. I'd love to do those river cruises in Europe, though. They sound lovely! My sister and brother-in-law did a bunch of them.

For the past decade, I've been trying very hard to get my traveling done by March of 2020. That was always my deadline. Unfortunately, I had a couple of trips that were interrupted due to family dramas, so I didn't quite get it all done. I was hoping to go to Japan and a few other countries this year, but that's clearly not happening.
The good thing is that I already had plans for my post-travel life, so I've just been doing bucket list stuff around home, which is also very rewarding. I feel bad, but I've actually kind of enjoyed the pandemic, just on a personal level. It has certainly been a change of pace, and it's just nice to take a breather and do something different for a while.

I took a road trip from Miami to Boston in January and February. I’m so glad I was able to do it before coronavirus started spreading in those areas. I was hoping to make visits to America a yearly thing but won’t be able to do it this year of course. The good thing is that since school is online now I’ll be able to continue to work on getting a degree.

Yeah, all of that stuff will be there next year. I did a lot of camping, hiking and rock climbing earlier in the summer so it wasn't a total loss.

My last holiday was a trip to Rome back in the summer of 2018. Had no explicit travel plans going into this year due to my employment situation and general finances. Meant to get a job teaching English as a foreign language actually, but all the language schools that were hiring at the start of the year are closed now and I'm classed as being in the at-risk category.

I wanted to get away somewhere tropical at Christmas so we could avoid seeing both families this year. So much for that idea.

I did spend ten days in Brazil in early March, not long before travel restrictions were put in place. Very lucky timing! Two or three weeks later and I think I wouldn't have been able to go. By early April you couldn't even travel within Canada - I had a weekend trip to Quebec City planned, and I had to cancel it.

I can't say that I'm glad that we didn't go. But, I am glad that we hadn't finalized plans, and have to undo everything. For 3 years a small group of friends have planned to visit Ireland (Republic and Northern), Scotland and Wales. We've traveled together in Italy and France. In 2018 one friend's husband developed a heart problem that MAY have called for surgery (it wasn't required, and he's fine). Last year, another badly injured her knee. So, we were determined that NOTHING was going to stop us in 2020.

I had plans to go to a friend's college graduation in Baltimore that was supposed to be in May and spend the entire week there, but then of course we later ended up cancelling plans for the flight and hotel reservations.
