I like almond and rice milk in my coffee and tea, in addition to cooking. But prefer cow's milk for drinking. As a child, I once tried goat milk. I also like cooking and baking with evaporated and dry milk. Condensed milk is great in fudge.

I don't drink milk per se, hilda my parents always had a can of evaporated milk in the fridge for their coffee. I just put milk in my coffee or use it for cooking. You brought back a good memory. my older brother couldn't tolerate cow's milk. So my parents bought a goat! My dad would milk it before work. That's dedication!!

I've switched to mostly unsweetened almond milk in recipes/NutriSmoothies, but I do prefer dairy milk for the rare times I drink milk (like with a cookie or cake). Also, some recipes need "regular" milk for the chemical processes to work properly.

I'm always looking for low-salt low-sugar low -at alternatives, but not soy. But as U2 would say, I still haven't found what I'm looking for. Trader Joe’s Unsweetened Almond, Cashew & Macadamia Nut Beverage isn't bad, but 120 mg sodium and iffy ingredients. I like coconut milk but it's high fat.
National Dairy Council got their bullshit in the schools when I was a kid ("children need 4 glasses of milk a day for strong teeth and bones") so I drank a lot of it then. Whole milk, as the only alternative was skim, which was awful.

Whole milk, as the only alternative was skim, which was awful. Back in the early '70s, Mom tried to save a few bucks by mixing up Carnation Instant Milk (which was non-fat). And I suppose that worked in a sense - because no one would drink it! In the '60s, we got our milk delivered - had one of those insulated, aluminum foil boxes out on the porch for the "milkman" to leave our order for us every few days. Also, a tour of a local dairy/farm was a standard "field trip" in elementary school.

Enigma, I thought that my Father was the only person on the planet who used evaporated milk in his coffee. When I reported to one of my first jobs, one of my colleagues had known my Dad, many years earlier. The first thing he asked me was if he still used evaporated milk in his coffee. In college, a lot of folks thought that was odd. For breakfast, I usually have a small glass of whole milk (cow). If I have eggs, I go with juice. Eggs and milk don't mix, for me. Among the many things that have changed, over the last 10"ish" years, is that I can't drink hot milk anymore. Cold is fine ... no problem. But, any kind of Cocoa, Latte, Cappuccino, etc., makes my tummy mildly unhappy. Fortunately, I like everyday coffee black, with no sweeteners.

I've been using unsweetened vanilla almond milk w/only 30 calories. Except for cooking, then I use cow's milk.

Back then it was ok for cows to be cooking meatballs and hamburgers ::hairraise:: They are cooking their friends and family members. I recall as a child getting milk from the gas stations in the 70's. I remember Borden's was popular until the 90's I believe. I wonder if any family members are still living. I liked the ice ream as well.

Oh yeah. Must be a canadian thing, eh? Pouring from a bag seems like it would be awkward. That's jokes.
