My husband wants us to get new phones next year. We currently have iPhone 6, and they work just fine. Of course, there are some things we can't do like get an Apple watch because the IOS isn't up to snuff, but other than that, I'm okay with my phone.
Just priced the low-end 64GB in red (I love the color!), and was annoyed. WTH? Yeah, we can pay it off in monthly payments, but seriously, I don't want to pay that much for an iPhone. I like the iPhone, but another thing that annoys me is that they build in obsolescence so you are ultimately forced to get a new phone. Does it pay to get a 12? But that's $700!!! Why can't they just let the latest IOS support the older phones? UGH!

My iPhone SE is 4 years old and I paid it off over 2 years at $13/month. I see that iPhones start at $25/month for my carrier now. Almost double the price, but hey, the demand is high enough that they can get away with it. Apple prices are high but at least for me their products generally last at least half a decade. When it's time for me to get a new phone I'll take other brands into consideration too.

I’ve a £100 Android phone and bought an iPod Touch for my Apple stuff. I also have another £100 Android phone that began to develope a few annoying problems but still works fine for audio and visual purposes. I’ll probably get one of those expensive phones after I win the lottery.
Oh and I don’t have a phone contract. The Vodafone big bundle deal (£10 a month) works fine for me.

I looked at the Samsung phones - my sister and sister-in-law have them - but I'm so accustomed to the iPhone interface. Ugh. Maybe we can put this off for another year.

That's another thing - the phone provider! Verizon is what we use, and we have an older plan that's actually cheaper than anything they offer now. Even the Verizon tech told us our plan was gold, and they don't offer anything like it anymore. So, we don't want to change the plan. We get great coverage, too. I think Samsung uses Android operating systems, right? Don't know if it's different where you are. Technology is wonderful, yet annoying.

That's what I'm paying for it, and I'm pissed for the same reason. My old phone was working just fine but as you pointed out, you HAVE to constantly update and upgrade so that eventually your phone is no longer "supported" so in other words,...it no longer works. They force everyone into having to eventually buy a new phone every few years. It's kind of like why I like old typewriters. Nothing to maintain (if you can just find the ribbon!) Or an electronic typewriter. I hate being given no option, no choices, having all that taken away, because one day we wake up and our phone just doesn't work.

I got mine about two months ago and I love it.

And besides, who the hell needs 4 camera lenses?

The 11 comes in a small size (the mini), but has a larger screen than the 6, so I'm guessing it's still bigger. I'll have to look into the 11. My friend who is in to photography loves the 4 lenses. He does wicked stuff with that phone!

My husband is on his second iPad, and he got his first one a year after I got mine. Mine is 7 years old!! Still going like a workhorse! (Now that I said that, watch it explode). I have trouble with eReaders. My first Nook which is the original one they launched isn't supported by Barnes and Noble anymore. I got a smaller one two years ago. The screen cracked. It turns on, but you can't navigate anywhere because it doesn't sense touch. And Barnes and Noble don't make it anymore. I decided to get a Kobo because it's supposed to be the best for downloading library books, including ones that use Overdrive, which ours does. But they won't open. Same with books I purchased. I have to call them. They're in Canada. I just need to set aside time. I do a lot of reading, and since the libraries are basically on lockdown and have very strict protocols for borrowing, I figured I'd do more borrowing through eReader. I've done it a lot before. It's frustrating! Do you use the iPads for doing your drawings/strips?

Yes, it's the 12 that has the mini for $700.00. The 11 we were looking at is $600.00.

I just downloaded a small (and free) drawing app called Charcoal and have that on my iPod Touch as it great for doodling when I’m travelling. As for reading one of my tablets is an Amazon Fire and that does everything I need.

Haven't drawn or painted in more years than I care to remember. Plus, my hands aren't that good anymore A lot of nerve pain, so I tend to lose control. WOuld probably do great abstracts!! My daughter wanted to give me her Amazon Fire because she never uses it. And I can play games on it, too! But can't download library books. But at least I would be able to read what I purchase!!
