I usually wait for the begging emails to arrive before I contribute.

Posters have been banned and excluded from ProBoards sites and were never given a reason under the Terms of Service.
If I contribute does that mean I cannot be arbitrarily banned and/or excluded from any ProBoards forum? Does ProBoards have such oversight over its clients? If not, I see no reason to give ProBoards my hard-earned dollars. Just by using Pro-boards you already contribute I think. On Zoominfo website it's reported that Proboards revenue is 39 m USD although net profit is not mentioned. I have contributed to Linux and some other open-source projects in the past and would soon contribute to Wikipedia. Although my contributions have been very average.

You haven’t lived until Wikipedia publicly judges you as not being noteworthy. Yes, but can you not re-edit Wikipedia yourself? Not after the page has been deleted. I created the page after noticing that I was mentioned in an article and my name was formatted as a link even though it wasn’t linked to anything so I decided to put something there. What I didn’t know at the time was that you’re not supposed to create pages about yourself and Ben said I should delete the page as it went against Wikipedia’s rules. I agreed that it should go adding that I wasn’t going to delete it myself but he could report it if he wanted to which he did. The ensuing drama was very entertaining.

Okay, I can see why you're still pissed at Ben. That was a petty move on his part. Although I credit him now that he seems to have matured a bit and maybe changed. But I do not forget all the malicious crap he pulled in the past. Oh that didn’t annoy me and I did tell him to report the page if he wanted to. I also thought it was funny when he removed my name from other articles (that’s where the “Stalined” joke came from) but I knew I’d eventually be edited back in.

I didn't even realize that it was an option. I see that they flash nice, positive messages atop the discussion grid. And, there are shopping offers. But, I never opened any of them. I'll look into it. I was on the pro-boards on the old system ... I think I still am.
I, too, give a small monthly amount to Wikipedia, because I use it so often. Yes, there may be errors in some of the entries. But, overall, it's a convenient research site, and nothing that I would research is a matter of life or death, or national security. It's mostly my curiosity that leads me there.
If I use a service, I don't mind being supportive.
