My favorite pickles (dill) don't have a brand name, at least not one that I'm aware of. They're the large ones that live in a huge jar, on the counter at many delis, and are sold individually. They always have great flavor and crunch.
Some time ago ... when we were on the old boards ... I tried my hand at making my own. My first attempt was a disaster, but the second batch was quite good. I think I made six, and I still have a whole one, and about 1/4 of another left.
The corner deli sells them from the jar. I don't know if I'll make another batch, or go back to buying them.

Without doubt, Patak's lime pickle. It's sooooo flavourful. You could have it with just a warmed bread or simple rice dish and it adds another dimension to it. Or add it as a side to an exotic meal. I store the jar upside down so that the pickle juices ooze out with every helping and don't settle at the bottom. You don't need a lot of it, maybe a tablespoonful. They do a hot version but medium is just fine as it's so tangy anyway, not bitter but tangy.

Homemade sweet refrigerator pickles. Sliced cukes, carrots, onions - salted, drained add cold syrup of sugar, vinegar, water, mustard seed, celery seed... ready to eat in 2-3 days ! Make thru the summer and then in the fall make a BIG batch. They keep until at least May (if you make enuf to last until then ! Maybe longer ! )
Vlasic sweet slices if run out of

what's your favorite pickle? In honor of your thread nuts I wanted pickles with dinner. But I'm having bacon, eggs, and toast for dinner. I may have to wait until tomorrow. My favorite? Dill chips.

I have Vlassic whole dills in the fridge right now, but I've heard good things about Mt. Olive pickles. Generally, I replace half of the brine with water to cut down on the salt (a taste preference, not a medical concern).

That's what I do when all the pickles have been eat. Blood pressure so high/Head feels like a balloon/Floating up up away/But dat pickle juice Mmmmm !Straught from the jar. After my first post I remembered I had actually tried those pickles packed in tropicle punch, Tropickles or somesuch, around three years ago I think. Its been a long time ago. I was first alerted to their existance eitheir from this board or the old one.
Awful! π I finished the jar because I didn' t want to waste. But man that wasn't a good flavor.
