Brutal violence and gratuitous language/nudity? Maybe that's a lot of people's idea of a warm family Christmas?! ps It's A Wonderful Life is my favorite christmas film. I'm actually sort of indifferent to It's a Wonderful Life. I think it is a bit too corny. Yeah it's corny. I didn't like it a first, took a few watches to appreciate, the color version helped.

A Christmas Story I don't consider Die Hard or Lethal Weapon "Christmas" movies btw. A Christmas movie should be whatever you enjoy watching on Christmas regardless of if it has blood sucking zombies in it or not. True, but he's right, Die Hard & LW are not festive films.

I have my subjective criteria for what makes a Christmas movie a Christmas movie. I tend to add "imo" or "I think" or "as far as I'm concerned" when talking about movies. Usually the only time I don't is when the other person is acting like their opinion is fact or is being dismissive or just wants to hear themselves talk and then I will do the same thing in return.

While I usually watch many of the same films each year... Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983) ...Is the one, that is always at the top of my list, that I must see every year. The lovely ending, along with the song: " Oh, What a Merry Christmas Day" (1983), that plays during closing credits (as well as the opening credits)... Is just holiday perfection.

An old one The Man Who Came to Dinner 1942 Paired with We're No Angels 1955 Donovan's Reef 1963 Not traditional Christmas movies, but their stories takes place during Christmas holidays, and I like the more relaxed view.

I already admitted that it was my opinion "too"... And my family doesn't celebrate Christmas by thinking about killing other people with guns. It's disturbing that you might.

First of all I already said in this thread that what people feel is a proper Christmas movie is up to them so don't be a bitch about it secondly I don't give a fuck what your family feels.

Pretty easily: A Christmas Story. For me, it encapsulated the whole aura of Christmastime as a kid and I relate to so much of it.

I already admitted that it was my opinion "too"... And my family doesn't celebrate Christmas by thinking about killing other people with guns. It's disturbing that you might. First of all I already said in this thread that what people feel is a proper Christmas movie is up to them so don't be a bitch about it secondly I don't give a fuck what your family feels.1.) Apparently your full of shit... Because, a poster randomly stated:... ...BEFORE you even joined in on the discussion, and so, his comments were never meant to contradict what you personally believe! And, yet, you felt the need to join in on the well known "'Die Hard' - Christmas film or not, debate", that has been going on forever, and isn't ending anything soon... In order to reply to his comment: If you truly believed what you said, you would NOT have made your statement, in the first place... Because it's quite clear that it is only meant to be a combative response to someone else's opinion... Because you obviously don't agree with his opinion that Die Hard or Lethal Weapon are not Christmas movies... And then you continued to disagree with other people's opinions, by posting additional responses with Well, That's Your Opinion type comments... You obviously came here looking for a fight... And if anyone is "bitching" around here, it's you, not me... I'm just giving you the conflict that you wanted from the very beginning. And Speaking of giving you what you want... 2.) If " you don't give a fuck what" MY " family feels", then, why did you ask about them: If you didn't want a response, the why did you as the question? It's quite interesting that the people who consider "Die Hard" to be a Christmas film, are the ones who are trying to start combative arguments with other posters here... Maybe more people should be watching more films about " Peace On Earth, And Goodwill Toward Men", instead! Why don't you try watching this film: Silent Night (2002) - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Night_(2002_film)It's about the real life WWII story... That involved a small group of American soldiers and Nazi solders... who put down their weapons, in the spirit of Christmas, in order to have Christmas dinner together! If soldiers who hated each other, could stop fighting each other, and let the war go, in order to celebrate Christmas... surely some random discussion forum posters here can do the same...Can't We? Or were some Nazi soldiers far better people than us?

"A Christmas movie should be whatever you enjoy watching on Christmas regardless of if it has blood sucking zombies in it or not."
What someone wants to watch during the Christmas season does not make those movies "Christmas Movies" any more than watching The Polar Express on Halloween makes it a Halloween Movie.
To insist otherwise, is pure trolling of the 0/10 variety with pot stirring thrown in for good measure. (imo)

Well, to be fair.. You referencing watching The Polar Express at Halloween is a very bad example. The Polar Express... Has nothing to do with Traditional Halloween concepts, and it does not take place at Halloween. Die Hard... Does at least take place at Christmas time. However, you are right... Thousands of movies take place at Christmas Time, or have a few scenes that take place at Christmas Time... But, just because a film has one scene with a pumpkin or a Christmas tree in it, doesn't make them Holiday films... And films with snow in them, don't make them Christmas films either... And most people don't consider films with such vague references to be holiday films, either. Recently, I looked at this list: "American Christmas films" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:American_Christmas_filmsOn the list: 1941? Ben-Hur? Eyes Wide Shut? Ghostbusters II? WTF? I really have no idea why those are on a Christmas list... Should 'Back To The Future' be considered a Halloween film, because it takes place in late October/early November? What defines a holiday film, should involve more than a date on a calendar, or when a movie was released in theaters.
