fondly remembered by 90s kids. This movie is known for being a family film with some pretty dark and scary moments that likely traumatized several of the kids who watched it. Robin Williams and a score by James Horner help give the movie more weight than it could have had. The special effects don't hold up unfortunately but it's still a fun film. Known for spawning two massive grossing sequels starring The Rock which came out recently, making this likely the most unexpected franchise ever

They should make a Monopoly version of the movie, but instead of the British hunter guy, they get hunted by Rich Uncle Pennybags with an assault rifle: "Do not pass go! Do not collect $200!"

The movie that caused cgi to lose its shine. Lions and monkeys have come a long way in realistic appearance since then.

One of my absolute favorites when I was a kid. I don't like it nearly as much now, but I still enjoy it.

Tried to watch it all the way through three times and failed ... Local Goodwill sold my copy for $1 so it was not a total loss.

I saw it once, but it didn't make much of an impression on me.

I really enjoy it.
Do you think the success of the newer movies has more to do with this movie having more fans than initially thought, or just the star power involved (The Rock)?

It's an enjoyable film for the most part, but the poor quality 90s CGI is distractingly bad.

I love it. It's childhood favourite of mine and I never get bored of it. Some of the CGI is dated but that actually adds to the charm. A product of it's time.
Those Dwayne Johnson sequels were garbage.

Still better than the modern remakes even with better cgi.

Little of Column A, little of Column B. Also probably a part of it is because we don't see much of the genre (safari adventure pulp in the mold of Henry Jones Jr.) those movies are borrowing from anymore.
