One of several theories... or that she was killed accidentally for wetting the bed. Or a Criminal took an interest in her and broke in...

You mean by accident or did he have some sort of motive people are theorizing about?

I buy into the theory that Burke struck Jon Benet on the head, perhaps after she took a piece of his pineapple. (There was pineapple found in her digestive system and a bowl of pineapple and milk found on the table that may have been Burke’s late night snack.)
Reading about the child Burke, he sounds like a troubled kid. He put his poo on Jon Benet’s gift in her room. But if he killed her, then it’s plausible that the parents teamed up to protect him and make the murder look like a kidnapping/murder by a stranger.
The multiple-page ransom note is the strangest clue. And I believe the detectives who say that the mother likely wrote it.

I think its most likely someone in the family killed her.
I used to think maybe it was an intruder, but the more time that has passed, and considering other high profile kidnapping cases in the years since, that theory has become less plausible IMO. I don't believe someone simply broke into the house just to kill her. It had to have been an abduction gone wrong. So if that was the case, it would've meant JonBenet struggled or fought back, or got too loud, meaning more extensive injuries to herself, damage to surrounding items in her bedroom and elsewhere, and more DNA of her abductor left in and around the scene and on her body. The basement showed no signs that someone had broken into the house, with undisturbed cobwebs and dust particles inside and plant matter outside, so anyone coming in from outside had to have come into their home another way, and there's nothing to support this. I believe the crime scene and crucial bits of evidence were deliberately messed up by the Ramsey family, with her body being moved immediately upon discovery without waiting for the forensic investigators to come, and ensuring that only her bedroom was being treated as a crime scene and not anywhere else in the house with the kidnapping story.
If I had to name someone, I would say Burke is probably the culprit, with his parents planting the ransom note and faking the appearance of an abduction gone wrong.

Nah, he was dealing with the civil lawsuit from Ron Goldman's family at the time.

Almost 20 years ago, a little girl that lived only about 2 & 1/2 miles south of me, was abducted right out of her bedroom by a guy who planned to use her for ransom. Unfortunately the poor child asphyxiated before her parents even knew she went missing, never mind the perp being able to threaten them (the parents). Cecilia Zhang

DNA evidence has just exonerated the parents.
They didn't say anything about the brother, though.

Unless someone finally confesses to the whole thing, and a real genuine confession (not like that weirdo back in 2006), we'll never know.
