Jimmy Durante sings in “The Man Who Came To Dinner.” Too bad he doesn’t sing it the song to completion.
Groucho was the King of the novelty song. Hard to pick just one. The tune he picked for his game show theme song had a similar theme to the Durante.
This, from “At The Circus,” is probably the most well-known. I once had a co-worker whose name was very similar to Lydia. She said she had heard about this song every day of her life from everybody she ever met.

I always imagine Nigel Bruce having Loch Lommond as his piece to perform at house parties. He sang with such confidence, a real bravura performance, knowing just where to lean in to the accent, when to hold the note out. Love it.

Not really a novelty song, but a novelty way of singing the song.

Not to sure if this fits here ? ... STRANGER IN TOWN (Leigh Harline / Mort Greene) Station West (1948) sung by Burl Ives welcoming Haven (the stranger) to town A stranger in town Where a stranger ain't welcome Should take some advice And turn right around The stranger should leave Go back where he came from And live a long life Away from this town He'd live a long life Away from this town…

Even though this is planted in a Cole Porter musical it was composed for another show, DuBarry was a lady, and it is the essence of a novelty song....
