If WB isn't producing the revenue AT&T was hoping for (especially if they're having to pay a huge loan on it), it wouldn't surprise me if they were looking to sell. Dunno why the DOJ would get involved with a consentual transaction. The Department of Justice has objected to corporate mergers in the past, under the pretense (in Trump’s case) of trying to prevent a monopoly. The Trump administration tried to prevent the merger between AT&T and Time Warner, and the Biden administration is currently trying to prevent Sony from acquiring the anime streaming service known as Crunchyroll. Meh, I'm pretty sure there's loopholes around it anyways (just say it's a 'seperate entity" with close business ties rather than an actual subsidiary)

They won't do anything. Especially McBiden. The corporations own the government.
The mergers in the 1990s completely destroyed variety in western film. Home video may have helped but I think these companies prevent competitors, and in art you need some freedom to experiment and gain audiences.
What was the Blockbooking scandal about? The studios prevented theaters form picking and choosing content-which meant smaller studios would not have access to theaters for their stuff-even if the public and the theater owners wanted that content.
I think the Blockbuster was just a new means of gaining dominance again.
Instead of cranking out 30 movies of varied quality a month--they would make 10, but with higher budgets, but the result was less access for competitors.
Anti-trust laws would mean none of these corporations can own a tv station, movie studio, publisher, etc at the same time. The rules are not followed. Or they were changed in the 80s-90s.

WB has already redeemed itself with ZSJL, Josstice League is all but forgotten WB didn't want the Snyder Cut of Justice League to be released, it was AT&T who allowed it to be finished and released on HBO Max.

Actually, AT&T should be the ones to clean house as they own Warner Bros. I also think Disney should clean house with Lucasfilm and fire Kathleen Kennedy.
