Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so they say.
Songs, bands, musicians or singers that manage to almost fool you into thinking they are who they're not.

German metal band SACRED GATE started out as an IRON MAIDEN tribute band named MADE OF IRON. On their 2013 concept album "Tides of War", they went back to their roots and did a historical epic in the MAIDEN style.

A little... It's a classic though. I'd go for something like this: The Flames - See The Light The fella on the left is Stig O'Hara.

Swedish vocalist Nils Patrik Johansson has earned praise for sounding like the late, great, Ronnie James Dio. I own albums by two of Johansson's bands, ASTRAL DOORS and LION'S SHARE. The ASTRAL DOORS song "Pull the Break" has more than a passing resemblance to DIO's "I Speed at Night".
ASTRAL DOORS - "Pull the Break" (2005)
DIO - "I Speed at Night" (1984)

This song gives me a Rush. My knowledge of Rush is fairly limited, and if someone played me that song they could easily have persuaded me it really was Rush.

I'm not saying Bush is Nirvana wannabe, but... beside Gavin looking and sounding just like Kurt, they literally came out just a few months after Kurt killed himself:

British band Monument wore their influences on their sleeves for their 2014 debut album. Monument really did pay homage! Yes indeed. In addition, Monument vocalist Peter Ellis sounds a lot like Bruce Dickinson from IRON MAIDEN, and acknowledges him as an influence:
