Not bad...but it kind of felt all over the place all the time and it was a little too long feeling. Amanda Seyfried is solid as usual. The supporting cast is ok I guess. Some better than others.
Potential spoilers...I just got so many different vibes throughout the film that I’m not really sure about. At first I thought it was gonna be like a kind of Rosemarys Baby situation...where this town was some kind of cult and George was leading his wife Claire into being some sort of host or sacrifice or whatever. A lot of the stuff early on felt deliberate...like the characters of Eddie Cole and Willis felt almost forced into the situation in order to create dissent. Claire had Eddie as a distraction, George had Willis and Cole jumped right into older brother mode with the daughter. They all felt like they had some alternate agenda that the family didn’t know about...hence my feelings of the town being cult like in a way...but none of that paid off and instead it was just a kind of ghost story. I think I’ve settled on being disappointed by this one despite not knowing anything going into it just because it seemed like they were setting up pieces for one movie and instead settled on a much more generic one.
