Anyone have good video/podcast episode suggestions about a particular subject? I'm always on the lookout for something good.
Here's an episode from the lefty podcast Chapo Trap House. It's a stand-alone episode that takes a look at the muck-raking writer, socialist, and Candide-esque optimist Upton Sinclair, and his quest to become the governor of California back in 1934. I had never heard of this particular event in US/California history, and thought it was quite enlightening and entertaining. Listen and find out if Upton Sinclair can fulfill the dream of labor and socialists and bring about a more equitable society in the Golden State (spoiler: no, he couldn't).

Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. A particular historical event, well if you count the Pacific War and WWI as particular evens, then this is the one. Far and away he best historical podcast. Long, he Pacific War one he just finished was six episodes, all over five hours long. He really knows how to bring stuff to life, educate a listener and not a boring second. he did multi part ones about the Persian Empire (King of Kings), The Easter Front in WWII (Ghosts of the Ostfront), World War I (Blueprint for Armageddon), the Mongol Conquests (Wrath of he Khans, a personal favorite), The Punic Wars (Punic Nightmare). if you go back in the archives, there are single episodes, from the Norman Conquest to the fight for Alexander's Empire after his death, to the Apache tribes.
Mike Duncan's two podcasts, history of Rome and Revolutions are also awesome. Not as big as HH but many episodes. Robin Pierson picked it up and did History of Byzantium.
And oddball one, Once Upon a time if the Valley. The tale of porn goddess Traci Lords. Might not be you cup of tea but it was interesting.
Many more but I wish I had the time to listen

I listened to his Punic Wars and Mongol series, and they were both great. I’ll have to check out the Byzantium one you mentioned. Blowback is a pretty good little series. They got two seasons: one about the second Gulf War, and the other about the Cuban Revolution, and I believe they are both free to listen to on Stitcher.

He just released the 6th episode of Blitzkrieg in the East. Oddly sympathetic to the Japanese. Not to the level of saying "Hooray for he Bataan Death March" but he admires the Japanese a little more than I do. He told a truly horrifying fact that I never read. On Okinawa, the Japanese Army distributed hand grenades to civilians to kill themselves. But most of the grenades were defective. So the Japanese had to use clubs to kill themselves, Husbands braining wives, adults clubbing parents and grandparents, parents clubbing babies. Like harp seals. I knew about the "Banzai Cliffs" on Saipan but not this.
If you listen to History of Byzantium, bear with the first few episodes. It takes Robin a few to find his rhythm. Some can be as dull as an old textbook.

Was perusing youtube and I found a channel that looks pretty interesting. It's called Fall of Civilizations, and it looks like it produces videos that discuss the fall of various civilizations. It looks like it's been going for a while, as it's got quite a few episodes. The episodes are quite long, so I'll probably check them out at work this week, and report back on whether or not they're any good.

Historia Civilis on youtube. The man loves Roman history, especially Julius Cesear.

I subscribed to one recently, ‘Gone Medieval’. I only listened to one episode, about the White Ship shipwreck of 1120. Princess Diana’s brother was the guest.

If, like me, you are a fan of ancient history you should watch documentaries presented by Bettany Hughes, Michael Wood or Joanne Fletcher. All three are great storytellers as well as being experts on their subjects. Here is one on the Minoan Civilization and the myths behind the Minotaur, with Bettany Hughes. This is narrated by Dr. Joanne Fletcher and it's one in a series she's done called 'Immortal Egypt'. It gives a different, refreshing look at parts of their history that we never hear about. It's called 'The Famine That Nearly Wiped Out Ancient Egypt'. Another favourite of mine is Professor Michael Wood. I love his series on Alexander the Great and particularly loved his 'In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great' because I found it fascinating to actually travel along the paths that Alexander took during his conquests. This is part 2 of the series. For some reason I can't find part 1 though it was on youtube when I originally watched it. Below is the link to the British TV series Timeline which specializes in all kinds of documentaries and not just those on Ancient History. All I can say is - THANK YOU YOUTUBE!!! linkhttps://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Timeline+ancient+history+documentaries

Ah, Bettany Hughes. Reading the comments under some of her documentaries on youtube, I've noticed a lot of them are more about her than the documentary itself. I think you must be one of them!

I just stumbled across a very good podcast about the Civil War, Civil War Breakfast Club. CW podcasts were kind of a bummer but this one is entertaining. They do assume the listener has a good grasp of the War. Recommended

'The Rest is History'
Hourly pod about pretty endless macro topics: Walls and Borders, Civil War, China, Ancient Olympics, Silicon Valley... etc. They've nice learned speaking voices which helps, & they never do full dives as to turn off the casual listener.

Been listening to the Revolutions podcast, by Mike Duncan. I’m listening to his series on The Mexican Revolution, but he’s got several other series on The French Revolution, the English Civil War, and the American Revolution. It’s mostly Eurocentric, so hopefully he branches out and covers stuff like the Taiping Rebellion, buts pretty good so far. Episodes are up on YouTube.

I’ve been listening to the History of English podcast which started in 2012 and he still hasn’t got to Shakespeare (we’re still in Henry VIII’s time). He can get bogged down in lists of words at times but still manages to produce a series that is both interesting and calming at the same time. historyofenglishpodcast.com/

The Blowback Podcast looks at U.S. misadventures in the 20th and 21st centuries. The third season about the Korean War is coming out soon, but the first and second seasons about the Iraq Wars and the Cuban Revolution, respectively, are available on youtube, I believe (they are officially released through Stitcher). Overall, it's a pretty good show. Here is the first episode of the first season:
