He so desperately wanted to be Batman again when Tim Burton's feature film was announced in the late 1980s. and West was in his late 50s/early 60s at the time.
Michael Keaton is ten years older than West was at that time, and he gets to be Batman again in his late 60s and 70s.
And not only that, but he apparently gets to be The Vulture again in the next Spider-Man movie.
So Keaton gets to be both one of DC's biggest superheroes and one of Marvel's biggest supervillains again, in his late 60s and 70s.

I just now remembered that Adam West did get to star in two animated direct to video Batman movies shortly before he died. I know that’s not the same as playing the character in the flesh, but that’s better than nothing.

I know that’s not the same as playing the character in the flesh, but that’s better than nothing. When Batman and Robin slide down the Bat poles and get into the Batmobile, Robin gets into the driver's side and Batman gets into the passenger side. Or, the steering wheel is on the right side for some reason. But then when they're on the streets, they're back in their regular positions. Why is that? But you're right -- better than nothing. Plus about 20 years ago in the early 2000s, Adam West and Burt Ward played themselves in an action-adventure TV movie revolving around the TV series and featuring the Batmobile.

In another timeline, The Dark Knight Returns somehow gets adapted with West and Christopher Reeve. It would of course be toned down, maybe "The Caped Crusaders Return". So Batman Returns wouldn't be called that.
No, scrap that. Instead of Batman Forever, a Batman/Superman teamup happens with Keaton and Reeve (they were the same age), and West has a significant supporting role.

Rather have it be his own Batman, get into the multiverse stuff early. Somewhat like Keaton in the Flash movie I guess.
