Everything I’ve seen from it makes it look like it’s going to be a disaster on the level of The Happening. Were Split and, to a lesser extent, The Visit, really just flukes?

I think it looks pretty bad. He could surprise me, though. He’s done it before.

Actually yes, I was looking at the promos and I cant say its my kind of film. Probably still better than After Earth though.

It does look like crap a bit but I'm not exactly understanding what you were expecting either. It's not made to look particularly glamorous nor was it intended to. It's an atmospheric horror, they're meant to look off.

I'm supposed to be seeing it on Wednesday. It does look a bit stupid, but I'm hoping it will be good. I liked Glass so he's 3 for 3 with me right now.

No. It's the work of an auteur and if you criticize Shyamalan's work, you'll be written into his next movie as a stuffy critic who gets killed.

I saw it. You could probably nitpick it to death (the aging never seemed very consistent, and the characters are always 5 steps behind the audience) and the "twist" was kind of whatever, but it was unique and held my interest. Midtier M Night?
I laughed my tits off when one of the characters developed dementia and started talking about movies in the middle of a dramatic scene, but it wasn't as narmy The Happening.

Isn't this coming out this week? If so no reviews are up yet which is a troubling sign.

Clearly I'm in the minority, but I think it looks interesting. And I like the cast.

I’d watch it. Dunno if I’ll see it in theatres but I’m curious about it. Shyamalan can be hit or miss so I’ll take the chance.

I haven't heard of it but if you say it looks like The Happening, one of the greatest films of all time, I will be in every single theater where it plays.

It’s getting pretty decent reviews. Nothing earth-shattering but better than I expected.

I wiki spoiled it for myself because I know I'll never opt to watch it. Doesn't seem overly supernatural, seems more like LOST

I saw it and don't think it's nearly at the level of bad as Happening or Lady In The Water. It's a ridiculous concept and not exactly well written or directed, but there was a humanity to it that I really liked and he put together a really good cast. I'd give the movie a 6.5/10. Also, I don't think Split was necessarily a fluke, I just think that was material that M Night was much more passionate and excited about and found the right actor to bring it to life. James McAvoy is electric in that movie.

It looks okay. He's got good ideas. His problem is that he writes his own movies too. His directing his fine, some of his ideas are there. He's an original if nothing else but a terrible writer.
