The orignal is the best, though Dream Warriors was pretty good too.

The original, closely followed by Part 3. I enjoy elements of them all, and give a little extra consideration to "New Nightmare." Had a couple problems, but was a really intriguing concept.
Boo to the remake. Love ya Jackie, but this one missed the mark big time.

None of the sequels ever came close to the original film. The remake wasn't bad, but it couldn't make up its mind on whether they wanted Freddy to be wrongfully killed or a child predator and I think that hurt the flow of the film.
The best of the original sequels were Dream Warriors and New Nightmare.

The best of the original sequels were Dream Warriors and New Nightmare. I had the same problem with the remake. I thought JEH did alright as Freddy (though his look was a bit strange), but it went too dark in places and not dark enough in others. The supporting characters were a little disappointing and generic to me, but the nightmare settings were pretty cool. I should give it another watch. My expectations were really high for this...probably too high.

The first one, definitely.
I also liked the scene where a giant Freddy head attempts to eat someone. It's been over 20 years since I watched them so I'm not sure which one that is.

'A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master.' - possibly my favourite movie of all time.
