I liked Year Of The Dragon, but I thought The Sicilian and Desperate Hours were terrible.

I too liked Year of the Dragon - only a 6/10 though. Never seen other post-HG films.

I've only seen pieces from The Sicilian. Not really interested in revisiting it. Too bad, since the life of Salvatore Giuliano does seem fascinating.

I've still only seen Thunderbolt and Lightfoot and The Deer Hunter.

He was allowed to make movies post Heavens Gate?!
LOL Kidding
I liked Year of the Dragon ok, but it wasn't great, and I don't think he ever rebounded really.
Kinda like Kevin Reynolds after Waterworld.
Someone's gotta take the blame.

'Year Of The Dragon' (1985) and 'Desperate Hours' (1990) are in my top 5 Michael Cimino movies.

I like Fandango and I don't totally hate Robin Hood like most people do. I don't even hate Waterworld. I think all his movies have SOME redeeming values. They're not total losses. And Waterworld for all the talk of it being a flop is NOT the biggest flop of all time. The still goes to Cutthroat Island (Renny Harlin) I believe.

Many people think it is mediocre, but I also know of many people who think it is a fun movie. Depending on how much trust you have for IMDB, it has a 6.9/10. Waterworld is the one I hear about people hating and even that has a 6.2. I think it might have a cult following now.

I liked Year Of The Dragon, but I thought The Sicilian and Desperate Hours were terrible. Yeah, Year of the Dragon was a enjoyable and at times hard hitting action-thriller, but The Sicilian was boring as hell (not sure if I remember much of it either) and Desperate Hours felt like one that should or could have been something interesting, but sadly it just did not sit too well with me.

Desperate Hours is a remake of a 1955 film noir starring Humphrey Bogart (one of his last movies), and it is so much better. You ought to check it out if you get a chance.

I dunno, I've been meaning to check some of them out for a while. Heaven's Gate got a wildly unfair rap, in my opinion.

I just remember Cutthroat Island costing 200 million and only making 20 million domestic. Even now that's a huge cut, but back then...! it must have been massive! OUCH! Waterworld cost about 200 or so too (at the time a massive amount), but it made 80 mill domestic and I think recouped its money worldwide. Legends are built around these movie flops, even Heavens Gate, that aren't always completely accurate when you look at the actual numbers.
