German actor, director, university professor, and radio personality Dieter Mann has left us at the age of 80. on February 3rd. In his career he acted in several theater productions and in over 140 film and television productions. Between 1984 and 1991 he was director of the Deutsches Theater. In 1986, he became a member of the Berlin Academy of Arts. Internationally, he is best known for having portrayed Wilhelm Keitel in Downfall 2004. Among other movies are I Was Nineteen 1968, Lotte in Weimar 1975 and The Promise 1995. He is remembered by Then24R.I.P. Dieter Mann

Spanish actress Margarita Lozano has left us at the age of 90, on February 7th. She acted in around 60 movies and television productions between 1953 and 2006, mostly in Spanish and Italian movies. She worked for Luis Buñuel in Viridiana 1961, Sergio Leone in A Fistful of Dollars 1964, Pier Paolo Pasolini in Pigsty 1969, the Taviani brothers in The Night of the Shooting Stars 1982, Kaos 1984 and Good Morning Babylon 1987, Nanni Moretti in La messa è finita 1985, and in Claude Berri's diptych Jean de Florette 1986 and Manon des Sources 1986. American film director, special effects supervisor, and inventor Douglas Trumbull has left us at the age of 79, on February 7th. He contributed to, or was responsible for, the special photographic effects of 2001: A Space Odyssey 1968, Close Encounters of the Third Kind 1977 (Oscar nominated), Star Trek: The Motion Picture 1979 (Oscar Nominated), Blade Runner 1982 (Oscar Nominated) and The Tree of Life 2011. He was Oscar awarded 1993 for a Scientific and Engineering Award and Oscar Awarded 2012 for a Gordon E. Sawyer Award. He directed the movies Silent Running 1972 and Brainstorm 1983. French playwright Jean-Pierre Grédy has left us at the age of 102, on February 6th. Over the decades he (sitting on the left) and Pierre Barillet wrote several successful plays, some reaching Broadway and some eventually became films too. Le Don d'Adèle by Émile Couzinet (France, 1951, based on the play Le Don d'Adèle), Les femmes sont marrantes directed by André Hunebelle (France, 1958, based on the play Ami-ami), Cactus Flower, directed by Gene Saks (USA, 1969, based on the play Fleur de cactus), 40 Carats, directed by Milton Katselas (USA, 1973, based on the play Quarante carats), Potiche, directed by François Ozon (France, 2010, based on the play Potiche) among others. Jerusalem-born American cinematographer George Spiro Dibie has left us at the age of 90, on February 8th. He was nominated for Emmy Awards 12 times. He won an Emmy in 1985 for Mr. Belvedere, in 1987 and 1991 for Growing Pains, in 1990 for Just the Ten of Us, and in 1995 for Sister, Sister. He was active on television between 1962 and 2010. English producer Beryl Vertue has left us at the age of 90, on February 12th. She was founder and chairman of the independent television production company Hartswood Films. He first first production though was The Plank 1967, Eric Sykes' wordless silent film. She was also involved in film spin-offs of television comedies of writers with whom she had previously worked. Meanwhile, she sold British television formats to the United States. These successes included Steptoe and Son, which became Sanford and Son in the U.S., and Till Death Us Do Part, which was turned into All in the Family. In 1975, she was a co-executive producer of the cinema version of The Who's rock opera Tommy, directed by Ken Russell and starring Roger Daltrey. She formed Hartswood Films in 1979. It has produced many comedies including Men Behaving Badly, Is It Legal?, and Coupling. The latter was produced by her daughter Sue Vertue and written by son-in-law Steven Moffat. She also served as executive producer of their dramatic series Sherlock 2010 - 2017, Winning an Emmy Award in 2016. She is remembered by BBCR.I.P. Beryl Vertue

Perhaps best known internationally for acting in And Quiet Flows the Don 1958, Fate of a Man 1959, and Chronicle of Flaming Years 1961. American model and actress Nancy Berg has left us at the age of 90, on February 4th. In 1947 she started modelling, and by 1960 she was earning $40,000 per year. She was on the front cover of Vogue four times, starting in 1953, and was Esquire's "Lady Fair" for May of 1956. She was also the star and sole performer for a 1955 New York television program entitled Count Sheep with Nancy Berg which aired five nights a week from 1:00 to 1:05 in the morning. He best known acting role was as Ilsa Wolfe in Fail Safe 1964. R.I.P. Nancy Berg

Canadian film and television director, producer and screenwriter Ivan Reitman has left us at the age of 75, on February 12th. He was best known for his comedy work, especially in the 1980's and 1990's. He was the owner of The Montecito Picture Company, founded in 1998. Notable films he directed include Meatballs 1979, Stripes 1981, Ghostbusters 1984, Ghostbusters II 1989, Twins 1988, Kindergarten Cop 1990, Dave 1993 and Junior 1994. He also served as producer for such films as Animal House 1978, Beethoven 1992, Space Jam 1996, and Private Parts 1997. Austrian-born British composer and conductor Joseph Horovitz has left us at the age of 95, on February 8th. Perhaps best known for his 1970 pop cantata "Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo" made into a TV short 1972, which achieved widespread popularity in schools. He also composed music for television, including the theme music for the Thames Television series Rumpole of the Bailey, and was a prolific composer of ballet, orchestral (including nine concertos), wind band and chamber music. He also composed the music for the movie Tarzan's Three Challenges 1963 and for such TV productions such as The Search for the Nile 1971, Lillie 1978, Why Didn't They Ask Evans? 1980, Seven Dials Mystery 1981, Partners in Crime 1983-1984, A Dorothy L. English television and film comic actor Jack Smethurst has left us at the age of 89, on February 16th. Perhaps best known for his role as Eddie Booth in the British television sitcom Love Thy Neighbour 1972 - 1976. He made his film debut in 1958's Carry On Sergeant. This was followed by parts in the films Saturday Night and Sunday Morning 1960, A Kind of Loving 1962, Run with the Wind 1966, Night After Night After Night 1970, the big-screen version of Please Sir! 1971 and the ITV sitcom For the Love of Ada 1970–71 amongst others, before he landed the role for which he is best known – that of bigoted socialist and union leader, 'brother' Eddie Booth in Love Thy Neighbour. The programme ran for eight series between 1972 and 1976. During this run he also appeared in the 1974 film version of the sitcom Man About the House. He reprised his role as Eddie Booth for the 1979 sequel Love Thy Neighbour in Australia. He made several appearances as Davenport in Britain's longest-running television sitcom Last of the Summer Wine in 1997. He is remembered by Express UKR.I.P. Jack Smethurst

American film editor David Brenner has left us at the age of 59, on February 17th. Known (along with fellow film editors Joe Hutshing, Pietro Scalia, and Julie Monroe) for being one of director Oliver Stone's "hot shot" group of up-and-coming film editors. He won an Oscar for Born on the Fourth of July 1989 (shared with Hutching). Stone recruited Brenner to edit nine of his films, including Platoon 1986, Salvador 1986, Wall Street 1987, Talk Radio 1988, The Doors 1991, Heaven & Earth 1993, World Trade Center 2006 and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps 2010. He also worked with director Zack Snyder on Justice League 2017, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 2016, Man of Steel 2013 and the extra-long Zack Snyder’s Justice League 2021. English singer-songwriter Gary Brooker has left us at the age of 76, on February 19th. (cancer) He was the founder and lead singer of the rock band Procol Harum. In 1966, he founded Procol Harum with his friend Keith Reid. "A Whiter Shade of Pale" is the worldwide hit for which Procol Harum is best known, but his melancholic vocals and emotive, eclectic piano playing were a key part of Procol's musical mix for the entire course of the band's career. He was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 2003 Queen's Birthday Honours, in recognition of his charitable services. His and Procol Harum's music appears on many soundtracks. (house fire) Perhaps best known for playing Olive in the sitcom On the Buses 1969–1973 and Aunt Sal in EastEnders on a recurring basis from 1996 to 2017. British model and actress Veronica Carlson has left us at the age of 77, on February 27th. James Carreras, the head of Hammer Films, saw one of her photographs in a newspaper and offered her a role opposite Christopher Lee in Dracula Has Risen from the Grave 1968. She starred in two further Hammer Horror films, Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed 1969 and The Horror of Frankenstein 1970. She also acted in The Best House in London 1969, Crossplot 1969, Vampira 1974 and The Ghoul 1975, plus guest star roles in several TV-series. She went into semi-retirement after marrying and moving to the United States. In later life she lived in South Carolina, with her husband and three children, where she worked as a professional painter. She's remembered by ShowbizcornerR.I.P. Veronica Carlson

American actor Brad Johnson has left us at the age of 62, on February 18th. (long term non communicable illness) A former "Marlboro Man", his first acting credit was in the low-budget biker film The Nam Angels 1989, and shortly after he had his first co-starring role in Steven Spielberg's 1989 film Always. Other films included Flight of the Intruder 1991, Philadelphia Experiment II 1993, The Birds II: Land's End 1994, Copperhead 2008 and Supergator 2007. He played Rayford Steele in the Left Behind film series 2000 and played Dr. Dominick O'Malley on Melrose Place 1996. R.I.P. Brad Johnson
