www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUph-G1rCNsCan't say I enjoyed it, really. I found the first a little bland and this was more of the same, but with a slightly more interesting antagonist. There is something lacking in these two movies, a niche, a gimmick or an edge that every long running horror franchise has that I feel these two movies didn't have. If I didn't like it is it worth me watching the rest of the films?

I suggest you see them and decide for yourself.

There is something lacking in these two movies, a niche, a gimmick or an edge that every long running horror franchise has that I feel these two movies didn't have. If I didn't like it is it worth me watching the rest of the films? I prefer II to the second, however, much of the edge was taken out due to MPAA censorship cuts. Part II has a nice atmosphere from the very start I find, with Jason stalking a suburban street and some nice use of the forest locales. Part III is more violent and is amusing to see for what they did to enhance 3D effects, even if only seen in 2D. Part IV-The Final Chapter, ups the graphic violence ante and even suspense and is a nifty little entry. Part V-A New Beginning, is a real fun time as far as I'm concerned and even sort of original. It has a massive body count, a bit of mystery again surrounding the killer, an interesting setting in a mentally disturbed forest farm, some amusing and over-the-top characters, and while the kills are not exceptionally bloody, it is still very violent and inventive. Part VI-Jason Lives, only really suffers from MPAA violence cuts. Other than that, I find this one to be terrific. I love the whole feel of the film and I even find the characters more sympathetic and appealing than previous entries. Part VII-The New Blood has hardly any blood and this is deceiving to the audience. It tries to do something a bit different and is not bad, but really suffers from the lack of gore effects. Part VIII-Jason Takes Manhattan, is pretty much crud. Loses something in the transition from Jason's home turf and is pretty routine I find. Jason Goes To Hell-The Final Friday is pretty much DOA as far as I'm concerned. It can be fun to watch, but too off the rails as well. Freddy vs Jason- Love, love, love it. I find it is everything that the Friday and Elm St. sequels could have been and weren't. It is like an homage, parody and even affectionate ode to what these films represented from their origins. It doesn't pull any punches violence and blood wise, and it knows what it was doing. In otherwords, there was plenty of passion invested behind the direction and it is heaps of fun. Thanks for your summaries. I have seen Freddy vs Jason previously as part of an Elm Street marathon, and I did enjoy it immensely.

II and VI are the best entries of a pretty disappointing and subpar franchise. Jason is such an awesome character, he deserves movies on a par with the original Halloween.

It's probably my favorite of the series, sorry you didn't like it much.
You could do horror movie narration or voiceovers, maybe it's the accent.

Old thread, but yeah. If you didn't like this one, you probably wouldn't like the rest. For my money, Pt. II, The Final Chapter and Jason Lives are the best of the series.

I'd personally consider Part 2 the best of the early Friday movies, so if you didn't like it I wouldn't recommend watching any further. The sequels are pretty much more of the same. Part VI gets a little more creative, but I wouldn't stick with the series if you liked neither of the first two films.
Actually, I really need to rewatch Part 2 myself. It's been 12 years at this point.
