Many times sequels get made that are destined to underperform (for various reasons). However, I think there are a number of sequels they don't make that would probably be pretty successful.
For example...
Austin Powers - If Mike Myers ever returned for a 4th film I think it would be huge. People still love and make reference to the original trilogy all the time.
Men in Black - I think Sony underestimates how popular this franchise is. I heard they want to reboot it, but I think that would be a giant mistake. If Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones returned for a 4th film I think it would do quite well at the box office.
Back to the Future - This one I have mixed feelings about. I'm not sure if I necessarily want a sequel, but if they did one I'm pretty sure it would be profitable.
Space Balls - Doing a sequel/semi-reboot seems like a no brainer. Star Wars is just as popular now as it has ever been, and Space Balls has lived on with younger viewers. You'd be surprised at the number of teenagers I've heard reference the movie.
A Risky bet but maybe...
The Nutty Professor - I loved these movies back in the day. Eddie Murphy is not the movie star he once was, but I think he's got the nostalgia factor going for him. Putting him back in this role could make a hit.
Can anyone else think of some others...

Titanic II Gremlins III Harry Potter 9 Pulp Fiction II Alien Nation II Titanic II ? How would that work? Lol Pulp Fiction II, I thought I read (a long time ago) that Quentin Tarantino had a Vega Brothers movie in the works. Not sure if that will ever be made, but I'd be down for it.

The Big Lebowski...not sure if it would be a huge hit, but I'd love to see it none the less.
Get Out was a sleeper hit and it had very great legs. I'd think that it would be a hit, but I'd rather they leave it alone.
Boss Baby II Kids and families showed up in masses to see this.
Bad Momswas the perfect raunchy comedy for women to go out in masses to see. I'd think it'd be a hit.

"Mr. Brooks" (2007) with Kevin Costner. If you were a fan of Dexter, you'll love it.

They should make a sequel to Rogue one showing the rebels using those plans to attack that Death Star thing.
I think that could be really big.

I think a sequel to the 2011 version of the three musketeers could be a hit. The 2011 movie was really good. I don't know why it didn't do better at the box office. Maybe its because when people think three musketeers their expectations are very set on how the story should be and this was too many steps beyond what they thought it should be.

They probably could do a sequel A Simpsons sequel could be interesting. I feel like it would be hit or miss though. I honestly would love a Family Guy movie, but I feel like they kind of missed their opportunity with that. I do though feel like another South Park theatrical film would probably do well.

After the success of Rogue One I'm kind of surprised they aren't trying to turn it into a trilogy. But I still feel like one of these Star Wars spinoff films will be turned into it's own trilogy. If the Han Solo film does well I wouldn't be surprised to see them make 3 of those.

And a prequel to a prequel would be... silly. I'm sure you're correct that they will do Han Solo sequels if it makes money, though.

Another one I just thought of was a Harry Potter spinoff on Voldemort. I saw that someone is making a fan film spinoff on the character, but it got me thinking why WB wouldn't want to do their own. I personally don't like the HP franchise at all, but from a business perspective I think this type of spinoff could be a success.
