To be fair...just because you have superpowers doesn't mean you're a superhero. I mean she probably is a superhero...but I wanna see her motivations first.

I really thought Feige was smart enough to make sure the shows were skippable for general audiences, but Dr Strange kind of disapproves that. Even as someone who watched WandaVision I found the over-dependence on that show to be really tacky.

Yeah the cameos were more fun if you've seen (or are at least aware of) Inhumans and What If, but they weren't required viewing. But if you hadn't seen WandaVision, MoM would've made no sense whatsoever. I'm not concerned about following the story of The Marvels (I could just read a plot synopsis online), I'm worried about whether I'll even want to see it if it focuses on a character I have zero interest in.

I think Doctor Strange MoM almost works without WandaVision. All you needed to know was that Wanda has been dreaming of her alternate life with kids and now desperately wants it. But they just had to force in a bunch of references to Westview and her fake illusion kids (which I still don’t understand why she made them before she had the dreams!).

I don't want to hate on a show I'm starting the thread for, so I'll just say I'm clearly not the target audience for this one. I'll pass. The trailer seemed alright to me, I liked the drawing of comic balloons and the Mean Girl's horns and it looks like it might be occasionally funny. I'll give it a chance at least, remembering my initial nineties horror at the concept of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' which sounded to me like the stupidest thing ever and not worth anything but as a target for satire. However since I never actually watched it, I never bothered to comment on it.
Then I came across a post by Gharlane of Eddor (RIP David Potter) who was a Usenet legend back in the early days of the ether, which seemed to praise the show, which gobsmacked me as he was the sort to acerbically tear apart stupid concepts like I presumed BtVS was. That did give me pause, but I didn't bother to watch it as I had little interest in vampires or cheerleader 'slayers.'
Then years later I happened to watch a few shows and became hooked, going out and buying all the DVDs as what seemed to me an absurd concept actually made for a very good show and it wasn't just a cheap horror knockoff as I'd assumed and some of the writing was borderline brilliant. Maybe this will be similar, I gave 'Stargirl' a chance because it was hyped incessantly on another show ("The 100") I watched and I was surprised it was actually halfway decent.

Yeah I don't have a ton of interest in a story from the perspective of this character. I don't even like the Spider-Man movies that much. It's been too long since I've had to deal with teenage melodrama for me to find that kind of storytelling interesting.

I'm not a huge fan of the new Spiderman movies, though I think Holland does fine in the role and did enjoy his appearance in "Civil War," for a similar reason; I've simply seen too many representations of teen-aged Spidey, I'd like them to (finally!) move on and get to the Spiderman I started reading about as a little kid in the late seventies where he'd at least progressed to being a graduate student at ESU and a respected photographer.
However I have young relatives, two of whom have become quite interested in the MCU and one has watched pretty much everything outside the Hulu series, so I give these all a try so I have something to talk to them about at family get-togethers.

One would think most superhero comics were aimed primarily at children, but I know what you're saying. I never read anything with this character, but I had a feeling this show wasn't going to interest me. I also don't understand the change from powers to tech, they must not be ready to reintroduce Inhumans yet. I meant that this particular character was created for teenage girls. Specifically teenage Muslim girls. She says ‘I spend too much time in fantasy land’ just after shots of her praying. LOL.

I don’t see why this and She-Hulk would be worse than any of the other D+ shows.

The more I think about it, I guess it depends on the material. I enjoyed the Runaways show quite a bit. But yeah I'm ready for Spidey to grow up. I have a seven year old son, so I'll be dealing with the teenage melodrama before too long.

I ought to try "Runaways" again, I didn't dislike that and found at least some of the characters entertaining and enjoyed the idea of the kids discovering what their parents were up to and the parents themselves trying to justify their naughtiness. I forgot about it during Covid when so many shows were being delayed and by the time I got back to it I figured all I had to do was watch the last season but when they ran the 'previously on' clips I didn't recognize most of the scenes. I know I saw the entirety of the first season and it ended with a fight over a pit or something and the alien guy was there, but I coulda sworn I'd seen more after that and assumed it was season two. They ran into a new character they had doubts about for some reason....did that happen in season one as well?

I watched all three seasons back to back in a few weeks, so It's hard for me to remember what happened when at this point. Runaways gets really bizarre in season 3, but it comes back together by the end. Definitely worth a watch. Did you watch Cloak & Dagger? It's not great, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it; but they show up in Runaways and it's always more fun if you have a previous connection to characters during crossovers like that.

I watched C&D season one and liked it, then it seemed something happened to the writing and theme of the show in season two and it came across as politically childish and so cringeworthy I dropped it in the middle of an episode as I couldn't watch any more of it. At any rate I recall the characters from the comics as they were created when I was actively collecting and thus I had read their mini-series and if I remember right they got a regular (or bi-monthly) series as well. I did like the performance of the two leads and would enjoy seeing them in a different series. Maybe I'll suspend my current re-watch of "Agents of SHIELD" and start "Runaways" from the beginning again.

Apparently the initial reactions for Ms. Marvel are overwhelmingly positive. Heck Grace Randolph is saying it might just end up being the best D+ show. Not that I put too much faith in initial reactions mind you.
