I think the radio telescope intercepted a transmission of that episode.
They should have done a whole bunch of "Wrath of" movies following up on villains from the original series.
"The Wrath of Charlie X" would have been a good one, don't you think?
How about "The Wrath of Mudd"?
Or "The Wrath of Captain Koloth"?
"The Wrath of Kang"?
"The Wrath of the Squire of Gothos"?
"The Wrath of the Ripper"?
"The Wrath of the Horta"?
"The Wrath of the Gorn"?

Carmel reprised his role of Harry Mudd (voice only) in the animated series episode "Mudd's Passion", written by Stephen Kandel, the same writer of the two live action Mudd episodes Koloth and Kor also appeared in the animated series, albeit voiced by James Doohan. But the three original TOS actors did all reprise their Klingon roles in the DS9 episode "Blood Oath".

Yeah, but I'm talking about a major motion picture during the original cast's film era! I understand. But let's not forget what a rarity it was for theatrical movies to continue the story of a TV series, with the original cast. It was common for movies to be remade as TV shows, e.g. "M*A*S*H", "The Odd Couple", "Planet of the Apes", "Logan's Run", etc. And there were numerous TV shows that were ostensibly original properties, but wouldn't exist without a popular movie to cash in on, e.g., the original "Battlestar Galactica". However, for the cast of a TV series have their story continued with a series of theatrical movies is quite an accomplishment. But given the pressures of large budgets, and the requirements of larger audiences to support those budgets, I'm not surprised that there was only one direct sequel to a TOS episode in the TOS movie series. If you want more direct sequels to TOS episodes, check out the animated series. In addition to the Mudd episode I mentioned earlier, there was: - "Yesteryear" - a sequel to "The City on the Edge of Forever" and a prequel to "Journey to Babel", with Mark Lenard reprising his role of Sarek
- "More Tribbles, More Troubles" - a sequel to "The Trouble with Tribbles", with Stanley Adams reprising his role of Cyrano Jones
- "Once Upon a Planet" - a sequel to "Shore Leave"
And if you want more movies with TOS villains, check out the IMDB v2.1 Movie Quotes board, where we have: With all your Star Trek knowledge, I think you'd be a valuable contributor to the Movie Quotes board, and have a lot of fun!

I would need a lot of time for that, and right now, time is not on my side. But thanks for the invite!

Actually, there's kind of an indirect direct sequel to Star Trek III: The Search for Spock --
Senior Moment!
Kirk and Kruge, together again!

With all your Star Trek knowledge, I think you'd be a valuable contributor to the Movie Quotes board, and have a lot of fun! I would need a lot of time for that, and right now, time is not on my side. But thanks for the invite! I do spend a fair amount of time preparing my quote threads, but it wouldn't take you "a lot of time" to be an occasional poster. Whenever I create a new quote thread, I send out a private message to a distribution of past participants. This message announces the movie, links to the thread, and includes links to helpful resources like a full transcript, and sometimes the full movie for free on YouTube. For example my latest thread, Frenzy: Spectre of the Necktie, for Hitchcock's Frenzy (1972), has a mix of regular and more casual participants. If you're interested, I could add you to the distribution of my next message. That would make it easier for you to participate as your schedule permits. Please let me know if you would like to be added to the distribution. I create new threads about once a month.

I have already selected the next movie I'm going to do, and have come up with a couple of quotes. I just need to sit down and watch the whole movie (which I own on DVD). My schedule should free up later in May. You should receive a private message about the new quote thread in a few weeks. Hope to see you there!
