My favourite jazz singer is (boring answer I know) Ella Fitzgerald. Who is your favourite jazz singer? Ella is my first choice. Frank Sinatra (Would he be considered jazz?), Mel Torme, Joe Williams, and Anita O'Day. Sorry I listed more than one

Sarah Vaughan
For current singers, Roberta Gambarini is amazing; a true successor to Ella Fitzgerald. Everyone should hear her rendition of On the Sunny Side of the Street where she scats the solos of Dizzy, Stitt, and Rollins from the original recording:

I'd go with Sarah Vaughan too. My grandmother was a jazz freak so I always heard Ella, Betty Carter, Dinah Washington and many more at her house, but I love Sara's voice the most.
