I liked NES Chiller, Phantom Fighter, Master Blaster, and a few others. What I still like about the old games were they were pretty challenging. I liked a lot of the old games like Bionic Commander for how hard they were, and you had to problem solve some stuff. In those days it was call a number for help or figure it out. I miss hanging out with a group of friends or family playing video games. Gaming online just doesn't come close to hanging with friends and smacking the controllers out of each others hands. I remember calling that number a few times. I miss the days of trading save codes from games too. I remember getting calls from guys in my class asking me for the code that let you jump straight to fighting Tyson in Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

Modern games are better I guess, but I feel older games had more charm and depended much more on gameplay than newer games. Today, games can just have crazy graphics and everyone raves. I did not play Battle toads or Marble Madness for their graphics and I still remember those games perfectly to this day. They were challenging and fun. People seem to forget these days that video games are ultimately supposed to be fun.

Nostalgia blinds me for sure. I still rank Super Mario Bros. 3 as one of my favorite all time games. My childhood mindset is definitely forming that opinion for me.

It does depend on the game itself as well as the concept.
Virtual families and villagers is the best we can get in terms of SIMS. (Eat a bag of dicks, Windows 10!)
The Papa's games (pizzaria, burgeria) Are fine if you dislike the Emily delicious games (watch your baby or serve customers!)
Tetris has stood the test of time.

Well what are they comparing those old games with? Mobile game equivalents? Or actual modern PC/console games?
If the latter, obviously the comparison makes no sense.. Totally different style of games. Current games are like playable movies. You can't compare Tetris to Grand Theft Auto V. Makes no damn sense.

Retro games have a pick up and play feel that newer games lack in my opinion.
