Yikes, I don't like the "slightly younger audience" thing. That does not bode well, because one of the things that worked so well in the Netflix show was how kiddy unfriendly it was. But it also isn't surprising that they'd be going in this direction.

But it also isn't surprising that they'd be going in this direction. Yeah it's weird they think they feel obligated to go that route. Like how they edited around some of the violence in Doctor Strange 2. What makes them believe people don't want to see this?

It was always a given that the new show wouldn’t be as dark as the Netflix one.

"....During a recent interview with NME, Cox reveals that he has yet to read any scripts for the series, despite production beginning soon. The series will officially begin filming in February next year and will shoot all the way through to December, though at this stage Cox has confirmed that he has almost no idea what to expect." screenrant.com/daredevil-born-again-charlie-cox-scripts-filming-update/

Talking to Metro, Cox shared his hopes to revisit that tone with an appearance from the villainous Stilt-Man! "The one I occasionally joke about – but I probably shouldn’t, because I don’t envision a world where it’s actually realistic that he shows up in our show - but I’ve always thought it’d be funny if Stilt-Man showed up," the actor admitted. "It’s such a ludicrous superhero, such a ludicrous villain that I just think it’d be funny if we found a way of doing that without it massively denting our credibility as an authentic truthful superhero show."

This is gonna be so divisive. They should’ve just rebooted.

This is gonna be so divisive. They should’ve just rebooted. Everything is divisive these days. I'm sure there will be stuff I like and stuff I don't like about it. The Netflix series wasn't perfect, either. It had its ups and downs. I'm glad they kept Cox, D'Nofrio, and (maybe) Ritter, as they were the best parts of the Netflix universe. It's smart that they're getting out ahead of it and letting us know the direction the show is taking. It doesn't need to be a hard R to be great. The writing will be key, the actors have proven they know what to do with these characters.

I’m sure I’m in the minority, but I hope there can be some confirmation that the Netflix show isn’t canon. Why does the Netflix show have to be erased? I bailed, but don't remember anything in it contradicting the MCU. I personally got tired of it, I found it repetitive, but I never thought it had to be ignored. Agents of Shield on the other hand....

D'Nofrio is excellent Cox is a good DD too, but it's a tedious watch for me. Brooding long monologues - usually by Matt or Karen - followed by very long and choreographed fight sequences, rinse, repeat. There was a point I found this exciting, but after 2 seasons of DD, The Defenders, and some Jessica Jones, I was out. It was a lifeless little universe that couldn't keep my interest.

I just think it’s a mistake to try to continue the series with an entirely new creative team. Even if they tried to completely emulate the original, which it doesn’t sound like they’re attempting, it wouldn’t be the same and fans of the original will inevitably be disappointed. It’s a bit of a lose lose scenario. I also think they missed an opportunity to just make a new version that better fit the MCU style. They could’ve also made it a movie series because the character is absolutely popular enough to support one. And fans like me who aren’t particularly interested in a continuation of the old one would be a lot more excited for this.

As a fan of the Netflix show, I'm excited to see the same actors reprise their roles. But you aren't wrong; if they're going to change the tone they may as well have gone in a completely new direction. I'd love to see a movie, but as a DD fan I'll take whatever they give me and hope for the best.

Yeah it had its ups and downs. Season 1 of DD was great, season 2 was kind of a mess. Season 3 rebounded I thought, but they really should've expanded the universe a little instead of repeating the same plotline with the Kingpin. I liked Jessica Jones more than most people did, but Iron Fist was a total disaster and Luke Cage was just boring. Defenders was fun in so far as the different characters coming together, but again the story was pretty stale.

No problem with it at all, but at that point that little side universe was just stale to me.
I'm ok with these characters showing up again. Frankly, the levity of the MCU could help them. I'd like to see a tone somewhere between the Netflix Universe and the MCU for these characters.
