ballsy when you really think about it. At the end of The Shining, Wendy and Danny escape, at the end of Poltergeist, the family escapes, but at the end of Pet Sematary, the family actually dies. No wonder the Leonard Maltin review said the film has "contempt for its audience", lol.

King was insistent that the movie follow the book closely. In fact I believe that was the provision for the movie to be made.

Ed Gwynn said it best "Sometimes, dead is better." As soon as the husband started burying bodies in the Indian burial ground, he sealed his own fate. He learned nothing the first time. You have to learn to let go. The grief caused him to go in denial, making desperate excuses for why it would work the next time.
