I’ve only seen 1 and 2 Jason X and the remake all the way through. I don’t hate them, but I just never got into them. I think they’re fine just not very interesting. I don’t think Jason is a very interesting serial killer.

I loved 1 and 2, but after that I thought the series was "meh" (although Part 4 had some good moments). Just got too repetitive.

I don't really have much of a moral issue with any of these movies. There are some slasher movies I do find morally offensive, but the Friday the 13th franchise doesn't really fit in that category for me.

Their sum is greater than their parts... or whatever. The best things the franchise has going for it remain its cool memorable title 'Friday the 13th', Jason's hockey mask, Jason as unstoppable brute force, & scattered about with teen fodder.
The first couple are my favs, & yet Jason wasn't even his masked pop cultural self until Part 3. I guess I just prefer those more nuanced Crystal Lake summer camp movies, rather than the more ridiculous, & more supernatural & gory sequels to come.

The also had a special episode that was just ripping on the genre and saying it was going the be the moral downfall of society.

I enjoy watching them all except part 5 First four are great and then the supernatural zombie Jason starts at 6 and they are a mixed bag but I have fun with the bad ones too

The first one is a minor horror classic. I really like the summer camp setting and it's got a clever twist ending. Pacing is off though.
The sequels are a mixed bag. Most are inferior to the first one, with the notable exception of Part VI, which I regard as the highlight of the series and one of the greatest slashers movies of the 80s. The campy tone, 80s soundtrack and quality characters work in its favour.
Overall, I like it better than the Halloween series.

Well, the Friday the 13th movies maintain equilibrium in quality, even if that quality is simply mediocre. The Halloween franchise is pretty much all downhill after the original.

The one where the killer turns out to be a paramedic, the Manhattan on, Jason Goes to Hell, and Jason X were bad. The rest I think are okay. I think I saw the remake but I have no memory of it, which I'm guessing means it wasn't very good.

One of the more puzzling moments of the series: that time they decided to let an actress show off her breakdancing moves

Season of the Witch is actually me favourite Halloween sequel, perhaps because it's just a completely different type of movie.

Oh, Season of the Witch is great, but all the rest of the Michael Myers sequels/reboots/remakes have never managed to rise above average at best and manage to sink at points to embarrassingly awful.

I agree with Siskel and Ebert. Not as good as Lawrence of Arabia, but there's a kid in a wheelchair who has his head hacked open by a machete. Thumbs up.

I've only seen the first one as well. Recently too. Just last Halloween.
I liked it though. I've never been much of a slasher horror fan and can count the combined Freddy Kruger/Jason/Michael Myers films I've seen on one hand, but honestly I liked it.
It was a cool twist of sorts that Freddy got burned because of a clerical error. I honestly thought it was a cool and smart commentary that Freddy essentially got burned because he was apprehended, tried, sentenced, etc. but they had to release him because someone signed some name on some form in the wrong place. I think it was a witness form. Someone signed it in the wrong place, the lawyer made a stink about it and technically they had to release him, so the mob said fuck that and burned his ass. I never knew that until I saw the movie. No one talks about that, just the dreams and the claws.
It was cool. I'd watch more of them. I know I'm late. I don't care. It's probably better now than it was when it came out.

Damn I totally totally mixed up Friday the 13th with Nightmare on Elm Street. Whoops!!
I've never seen a Jason movie. I would now though. I was never really interested before, but come Halloween, I'll watch.
