I finally have gotten around to watching the not very well-known sequel to The Last Picture Show, Texasville.
Who else here has seen this movie?

I didn’t even realize there WAS a sequel. How was it?

I didn’t even realize there WAS a sequel. How was it? I haven't finished it yet. I was bored and took a break. That should tell you something. The tone is completely different from the original so far.

I saw it a long time ago but can't really remember a thing about it.

Yes. It didn’t really work for me as a whole although I thought Annie Potts was great in it.

Annie Potts is the best thing about the movie, I agree. Timothy Bottoms is the second most interesting character in the movie and he is barely in it. Sort of feels like the pilot for a TV series that would get cancelled after one season.

I know that Larry McMurtry who wrote The Last Picture Show also wrote its sequel and both were adapted into films.

Bottoms was quite good but looked and seemed like a different person from his character in The alast Picture Show. I know his character was suffering with some kind of mental illness but he didn’t even seem to have evolved from that character, I did think Bridges was quite good in a forgettable role, but he can do wonders with next to nothing.

Many people seem like different people after 20 years. I am very different than I was when was 19. That is why I was annoyed they didn't explore his character more. He just seems to be kind of just thrown into the movie so it can come to the ending that it comes to, but we aren't give hardly any information about his character. He just kind of shows up once in a while and acts depressed.
