Cailee Spaeny (Pacific Rim: Uprising; Bad Times at the El Royale; The Craft: Legacy) will play the lead while Jacob Elordi (Euphoria) is playing Elvis Presley.

But who will play Leslie Nielsen?
"Nice beaver..."

Often times when portraying an age-gap relationship (specifically an older man/younger woman) the older partner is shown as confident, and more composed. In my experience - they’re a lot like how Elvis was portrayed initially in this film: more timid, and fidgety.
I think I prefer Baz’s film - but I’ll revisit this more.

Lisa Marie Presley was not a happy Camper with the screenplay. Allegedly being a Hatchet job on Elvis's character. I enjoyed the Baz film. And I'd be interested in watching this when it comes to Streaming.

He was her beloved father that she lost at a young age - and I believe she’s had a complicated relationship with her mother. But this is Priscilla’s story, and I don’t think there’s anything here that was unusual for the time or the context.

So she probably had a version of him built up. It's Sad she and her young Son died. Plenty of tragedy.

I bet she loved the Baz movie with it switching the focus of him stealing black music to a made up narrative of him being a social justice war for civil rights - in between hanging out with Nixon, of course.

i enjoyed it a lot. it showed how much elvis affected her life and how she had very limited agency in what happened once they got together without making him into the outright villain.
also the actress is incredibly beautiful so that helped too. Along with the amazing camera and set and makeup it really was a feast for the eyes.
I like it much more than Buzes film.
8/10.
ps: of course it was also creepy and offputing to watch the 14yo get hit on by aman of 10 years over her and a fame and power to his name, but it was done tastefuly without pushing anti Elvis hate. It just focused on her instead of him, which I appreciate.

The movie is all about grooming and gaslighting, and old fashioned abusive moments like him outright throwing a chair at her or whatever are few and far between.

I immensely enjoyed its first half much more than the second half, which teeters on feeling less interesting and its progression feasibly never entirely organic, however Spaeney is great within first half, not as much second half and Elordi is a very ambiguously and somewhat benevolent sort of an Elvis but needed to capture Elvis appeal a bit more.
